Computer wont boot due to (un)faulty keyboard

Hello,

so this is weird. I connected a different keyboard to my PC (not necessarily a new one but it works completely fine) but, when the keyboard is connected via usb (does not matter which usb, just any usb slot) the computer wont boot and it sticks on the welcome screen of the motherboard.

There is a set of diodes on the motherboard which keep glowing just after the computer is turned on (they usually stop glowing after 5 seconds as the computer starts booting)

If I unplug the keyboard then I can boot without troubles. After boot I hook up the keyboard and keep using it as normal.

Any idea what and where is the problem?

This sort of stuff sometimes happens, maybe the USB for the keyboard is somehow shorting on the I/O shield or the motherboard. Which board do you have?

Maybe you didnt install the I/O shield properly? Did you try the case's usb ports?

How do you install the I/O shield?

Turns out there is one usb port that does not produce this kind of error. So maybe its limited to one or a set of USB ports.

Never seen one hang like that because of it. Do you have USB keyboard support enabled in the bios?

I think it is... I wasnt in the bios for a long time so nothing could have gotten changed in there.

I noticed that I can plug the keyboard in as soon as Windows start to boot (the Windows logo appears). If I plug it any time sooner it just freezes.

Yeah take a look in the BIOS and see if USB support is enabled. I reckon that could be your problem.
