Will i see an advantage using an SSD?

Normal boot time with an SSD is quite quick - anywhere from 8-15 seconds. And programs also start quicker. So yeah, you'd see an improvement.

I plan on getting a 120GB SSD to just run windows and a few main programs and games.
Would i see any significant increase in performance if i was to choose this SSD over a normal hard drive?
This is the SSD im talking about:

Yeah as Voyager said, Windows and programs would load faster. Everything is usually instantaneous with an SSD, so you'd notice that your system was overall much snappier. An SSD is probably about the best thing you can do to improve system performance.

Well, defiantly not the best thing if you have a lo end computer, more ram, and the like would help that. But, if you have a fast pc, than a ssd should be the thing to upgrade.

Thanks for the replies.
I guess il go with the SSD then. My computer is pretty fast at the moment, so this should make it much better.

I disagree with you here. it actually improve the system more if you have an old slow system expecially when no more ram can be added to the old system, The ssd will make windows swap file work much faster. My old Gateway 508ge run much better than before after I install the 60gb SSD.
Cheers.

Good desicion. SSD's are new and fast technology. They make a big difference. Good luck! :)

8-15 seconds is rather slow for an SSD unless your including POST time :P Even my SATA2 can do it under 10 so Id imagine a SATA3 could do 5 easy

Lightyears faster than my old 7200rpm HDDs thats for sure. Night and day.
