Im looking at upgrading graphics card for the next wave of games that are approaching eg gran theft auto, resident evil 6, F1 2012, metal gear solid, tomb raider... ive been reading up on the 7850's, 70's and 7950's but i dont know what to do, theres so many mixed reviews about these cards and i need someone to put me out of my misery and tell me what i need to do if anything....!!!!!

I CANT SLEEP!!!!!!

Phenom II X6 3.2 ghz Black Edition
Asus Crosshair IV Formula
16gb 1333mhz
Ermac 1025 psu
EAH 5750 Formula X2 (dont usually overcolck cause of issues)

P.S the 7950 would really be stretching my budget so need to be convinced on that one

Get a 670, if you allow yourself to get a $400 gpu. The GTX 670 beats a 7970, let alone a 7950. A GTX 670 is nearly as good as a $500 GTX 680, like 5 percent worse, barely noticeable. A 7870 would be great, but I would still spend $100 more for a 670. Or wait for the GTX 660 for $300, which will probably beat a 7870. How long have you had the power supply? It's junk, and could blow up and take other parts with it. But, if you had had it for over a year, I say you should be safe.

Yeah I can vouch for the 670 they're dam good cards. I had one and now I'm sad because I had to sell it because I needed the cash.

Did you all really read his post? Said a 340 buck card would be stretching his budget. Then you tell him to buy a 400 buck card!

If you can pull off a 7950, go for it. If not a 7870.

That motherboard supports crossfire but not sli, so if you ever wanted to add a second it's a good idea to get a Radeon and not an Nvidia type. 7950's are excellent performers, look for the ones with a good enough rebate to make the deal worth it.

well lets say i could get a 680, how long is it going to last for and is it worth spending that extra money... could also say that about the 7950 cause the 7870 will overclock to that then upgrade after a couple of years, surely if the 7870 does the job that would be the way to go then upgrade right...?

tell me why the 680 is worth the 100 after the stretching of budget and ill seriously consider it!

many thanks to every ones input, appreciate it!
