I have a computer that is a couple years old and I was thinking of upgrading it but Im dont want to buy any new parts that are too much for the motherboard. (if thats possible?)

I have an ASUS P7P55D Evo motherboard and an Intel Core i7 [email protected]

I want to upgrade my GTX 260 to a GTX 560 Ti.

Is this going to be a problem for the Motherboard or CPU or should I upgrade one or the other?

Thanks in advance.

As clapto said, you won't need to upgrade your Mobo or CPU in order to use a 560 Ti.

The 560 Ti would be a good upgrade from a 260 and would work just fine with that board and CPU. I'd be more concerned about your power supply. Which PSU do you have?

Its a chieftec 80plus. It doesnt say on the PSU and the book doesnt help much but the minimum total output for the 80plus on the specification page says 600W so its 600+ I would think?

that's a cheap crap psu, there's a chance it will blow in the future and they are known to take other parts when that happens, it's best to play it safe when you're using a couple hundred bucks of hardware and spend the extra bit to be safe.

Also i'd get a HD6950, they cost the same and less and have more vram so they are better suited to higher resolutions

Don't use that, change it to something like a Corsair CX 600 or a TX 650 or any 600-650W unit from XFX, Seasonic, Antec, OCZ etc. Get a well-branded unit.

Alright, my case is Antec so I guess ill get this Antec NEO ECO 620C 620W. Is there anything specifically I should watch for to make sure it fits my case? My PSU is at the bottom which is different from computers I've had before.

Thanks again everyone for the advice.
