Improvements/opinions of new build

First time building a PC for gaming. Not planning to OC by the way. I don't really trust myself...

7970 Gigabyte OC
i5 2500k
8gb 2400 g.skill Ripjaws-Z
Cooler Master HAE 922
Cooler Master Extreme 2 PowerPlus 625W
Windows 7 Home
21.5" Samsung S22A350H
Samsung SATA DVDRW
Asrock Z77 pro4-m motherboard
OCZ 60gb VertexPlus SSD
Hitachi Deskstar 1TB or WB Blue 1tb
as well as all the keyboard, mouse, speakers, network/sound card.

Where are you buying from?
Updated 922 HAF XM
3570K
Z77 Extreme4 Use a better power supply . Or this
The price for 2400 memory doesn't equal the price increase from 1600 so might as well get 1600 @ 1.5v or lower. Low profile in case down the road you do decide to add a 3rd party HSF and oc.
For ssd you want Sata III. If OCZ, choose Vertex 4.
The Blue drive over the other one. WD Black for better warranty if price is close.

The 2400 RAM is kind of unnecessary. You wouldn't notice a difference between it and 1600mhz RAM.

For this high-end build, I'd go for a better PSU, something like a Corsair TX650.

Might want to consider a 670 instead of the 7970. Its cheaper and near the same performance.

Go for the WD blue, stay away from hitachis.

In short form:
3570K over 2500K (Newer)
GTX 670 over HD 7970 (Better)
Corsair, Seasonic, or XFX over cooler master power supply (More realiable)
Seagate or Western digital over Hiatchi (Hiatchi, put simply, sucks)
Asrock Pro4 Z77 ocpver Asrock Pro4 z77 M. (Better, more upgradibility, and keeps processor sb cooler=Longer working time)

Also, the Haf 922 is way to overpriced for what it is. It is silver on the inside, and not very good cable management. Get a Haf X or Haf 932 If you want a Haf. Or, get a better case for the price from: NZXT, Corsair, Antec, or cooler master.

Thanks for the replies
I changed some parts after reading suggestions:

3570K
Gskill Ares 1600 8gb ram
Antec VP-650 PSU
ASUS P8Z77-V-LK
OCZ 60gb Agility 3
WD blue 1tb
Antec DF-35
Gigabyte 670

Any better?

Looks just about perfect. If you really are sure you don't want to overclock EVER, getting the i5-3550 would be the same, just less overclocking potential.

But overclocking is easier than it sounds. It'd be smart to always have that option.

Okay, I'm going to go and be back later. At the moment I'm settled with:

i5 3750K
Gskill Ares 1600 8gb Ram
Corsair TX650
OCZ 60gb Agility 3
WD blue 1tb
Antec DF-35
Gigabyte 670
Antec 900 (Possibly, not too great with cases)
Windows 7 Home
21.5" Samsung S22A350H
Samsung SATA DVDRW
And maybe the Gigabyte Z77X-D3H

This is all in my price range and works for me. Please, any advice is great and considered.
Also once again thank you to whoever has replied already.

The DF 85 would probably be better, I think the 900 is old. But, really, just go with a NZXT or corsair for some really awesome cases.

The Antec 900 is a bad case. Old, out of style, has no cable management features. Go for a Corsair Carbide 300R or a CM Storm Scout or HAF 912 if you like the LEDs. All much newer cases with better cable management.

I'd go for the Z77X-UD3H over the ASUS.

NO haf 912, it's cheap, but if you are not on a strict budget, do not go with a 912. But, yeah, a Storm scout would be good.

Yes, I used one. It was a reasonable case, but the silver inside really turned me off. I mean, I don't really care about cable management when the inside doesn't even look good.

True but you can always paint it yourself. And the HAF 912 doesn't have a side window IIRC.

You say that, but you know, most people are not gonna paint their case that they spent good money on, whether it's $40 or $300.

How well does an ASUS P8Z77-V-LX work with an i5 3750K and a Gigabyte 670gtx?

I would love a quick reply as I am pressed for time, and yes it is for gaming, and no I do not plan to OC.

ASUS has a bad rep on this forum, there're a couple here who live by them, but more who refuse to use them again, look at a gigabyte z77 ud5 or ud5h or whatever you can afford, they are better quality and way better support. Otherwise a ASRock or MSI is also good.

looked at what that one costs so guessing this is more your speed

It will work fine.

Not had any problems with any ASUS boards I've owned, I'd say go for it.

agreed. Thats what I did. It is not hard, and cost about $20 or so if you get really good high temperature paint.

true too. But if you have a low budget you are not going to find a black inside that I have seen. There are some good cases out there that could probably beat the 912 though.
