Time for a new Monitor

I need a new monitor.
Budget- $175
1080p
DVI and HDMI inputs.
At least 23in
Will be gaming

Should I get a TV or an actual monitor? I would like 26in, but minimal 23in.
Any help would be appreciated, Thanks. And I will be playing xbox 360 on it.

monitor quality is not going to get better for 20 bucks, id say stick with that. if your wanting to max it, get one of the dell wfps, toms hardware has a sale on the 24's, their 1920x1200, a very nice panel imo. however they cost nearly 300 bucks.
 
I can tell the difference between a monitor and a TV at like, 10 feet. The colors are more vivid and just better with a monitor.
 
If you just play games and watch video on it fine, but if you typing and do other work on it, it is just terrible. even 27"monitor I got with 1920x1200 it look horrible. anything larger than 26" you need 2560 x1600 to look good.
