i have a Phenom II X6 1090T 3.2ghz black edition cpu and an asus crosshair IV formula mother board (16gb ram 1333/1025watt psu) im looking to upgrade my graphics card from a 5750 and i was looking at either the power color 7950 or the gtx 670, i found a power color 7950 at $399 (australian) and a gtx Inno3d at $422 (on sale)

Few questions

1. is the gtx worth the $23 (its usually $53)

2. will putting a nvidia disrupt the harmony/system in anyway being it amd (ive heard radeons in intel set ups is ok but not the other way around)

3. is inno3d a good brand or a dodgy one

(i just want the best bang for my buck for the new up coming games that are arriving eg gran theft auto, resident evil 6, f1 2012...

i will be playing these games on a 46 inch plasma so at 1900x1200 or whatever it is

Please help i want this card ASAP

Thanks!!

what is your power supply? the brand and model.

and where did you find them for 400? i looked at the australian site i normally refer to and they were a bit more.

Other than the brand the gtx670 would be better, i'm not familiar with them and whenever i see them they are so cheap i'm thinking they are low quality and prob safe to guess not much support either should it break.

its an Enermax and its 80+ silver

the gtx (inno3d) is usually $452 theres a sale currently on for $30 off

Iv seen Inno3D around for a long time in graphics card. Never owned one though. Its one of those brands that its generally better to stay away from if you can I would say. Iv seen alot of brands like that not make it very far for very long due to poor quality products.

Just my opinion, I would go with a brand more well known like evga, xfx, or asus. Something that is a big corporation and offers good support. evga has always had good support and quality products from my experience.

im not sure what the name of the shop is but for the 7950 its called msy technologies

i read a review on the gtx at tweak town.com and it raves about it

A GTX 670 beats a 7970, let alone a 7950. Enermax psus are okay, not the best, but a upgrade wont be needed. Get a 670 from EVGA for $400.

Ok, if that's a typo and you meant MSI then i'd probably go for the 7970, It is about the same as a 670 and they actually came out with a 7970GHz edition that ties the 680, if you can reach its speeds on it then you'd be great. Really they are all so powerful that you won't see a difference for a while and when you would we're talking like 3-4 fps, since the 7970's cheaper and (if msi) a better bran, then i'd much rather get it

it seems like your numbers go back and fourth based on the game johnny, but id go with whatever is cheaper, and imo nvidia drivers have been better in the long run. myself id get the 670

it's always like that when comparing nvidia to amd, some games benefit from cuda and others, idk, it seems like they have more raw power just bad drivers and games don't utilize their features as much, anyways, overall they are even, i started to do the numbers but ipod randomly reset it from over 2.5k and wasn't gonna restart. they should add another thing that just adds all the scores together for the games.

it wasnt a typo its msy technologies...

So what im gathering is that the same so i should get a 7950 being amd? Look at tech town.com how much its beats it by in the review!

Can i put this card in my computer does it matter with amd and nvidia??? Ppl tell me different things its driving me insane!

Dont worry about matching up AMD w/ ATi(AMD) or nVidia/Intel. It does not matter either way. The CPU and GPU will not interact any differently (not on any significant level anyway). Iv had countless AMD/nVidia setups and an ATi/Intel setup and it doesnt matter all that matters is you get a good CPU and GPU that have an evenly matched performance level.

That said, I do believe I read somewhere that the 670 is faster than the 7950.

yeah the 670 is a good bit better, forgot and was thinking the 7970 i guess, was at like 1 or 2am when i was typing that.

can you find the store or something, would be nice to see what else there is

Yeah, a 670 will beat a 7950 by quite a bit. It even beats a 7970 average. I would get the Evga FTW version. But, these brands will be great: eVGA (the most know, the best), asus, msi, and gigabyte.

well i really want the 670 but ive stretched the budget enough at 422 and dont wanna spend another 65 just to get a gigabyte one (asus even more) so may have to bite the bullet with an inno3d and hope for the best:eek:

am worried about overheating, 7950 run alot cooler/screw it
