I'm looking for a new gaming card I picked two.

Theres no point getting a 680 over a 570 at a lower resolution, and without knowing any other data, how about we wait for the OP???

Maybe. But what if one day he decides to get a new monitor and goes oh wait, this 570 sucks. I mean, the 570 is only going to last so long even at 1920x1080 which for some reason people are considering to be a "lower" resolution now.

This is one of those rare cases that I agree with Bigfella on something. :D

But think about this. Even if the OP is gaming at 1280x720, which hopefully not, but next year and towards the end of even this year we are going to see some new game engines coming out hopefully ones that will utilize more tessellation and other DX11 features we have yet to see. And while the 570 may still be a good card, if next years games do finally start to make use of more DX11 features Im not sure the 570 would be able to keep up very well and I would think there would be a significant performance difference between the 2 cards in relation to DX11 performance.

The 570 is a strong card, it should be good for the next couple of years definitely. Put it this way; my 5870 was released close to 3 years ago now, and I can still max out every game I play at 1080p with it. The higher-end cards tend to last at least a few years before they start to feel 'old'.

I'm with Bigfella and Denther on this. At the end of the day, the 570 is sometimes around half the price of the 680 and is still a very strong card.

I’m not saying the 680 is a bad decision, in fact if any card would be preferable on a lower spec/amp PSU it’s the 680 over the 570. But we're not anywhere near ready to make a decision until we know what the intended resolution is and if the PSU and CPU can keep up.

However if for example, the OP is playing HD first-person-shooter games where FPS is everything, than a 680 may be a good option, but we need to know the PSU first. But even then, a single overclocked 570 can achieve respectable frames on any of these games at HD. Thirdly, a second 570 in SLI would probably be the best option as this will be a good 30% faster than a single 680 (guestimate).

If the PSU is 350/400W no name brand, then it would be a bad idea to have any graphics card in there.

The point is the OP isn't replying so, it so the discussion may be futile. ;)
