Hello everybody, I am a brand new member to the site. I came as a complete newbie seeking advice.

I am highly looking forward to guildwars2, and I want to make sure I can play it on max everything with no problems. I want the most epic gw2 experience possible. I am looking to spend no more than 5k probably, so money computer wise, I think I will be able to get a great one with my budget, my only problem is that I am a total noob to gaming computer... I have no idea where to begin. I thought about buying an Alienware, but I've heard mixed reviews about them.

TLDR Im a total noob to comps, need help in buying one.

Any advice on what to do?

-Thanks.:)

couple of things. Do you need a screen, keyboard or the like?

What nation?

Are you good at legos? Thats a serious question. You can do a lot better if you build yourself than if you buy a premade computer. Its not hard, just like a lego set with bigger parts.

Im from the US. I I have a 32 inch monitor I use right now, so that should be fine. I do need a good keyboard and mouse. As for the lego question lol, I guess I am decent with legos (as a kid.) The point im trying to make is that I could build one myself, but I literally have 0 experince and wouldnt have a single clue where to begin.

I see your from NC, I am aswell (Charlotte.)

It's very simple. You will have no problem building your own computer :).

with your budget, I would get a smaller monitor, around 22 to 24 inch with 1080p or slightly bigger with 1440p. Assuming the same resolution, the picture gets exponentially worse as the screen gets bigger.

There are tons of guides out there, and most of the components have instruction sets with them. Its not hard. my sister built one a while back and she sucks at mechanical stuff.

Im just north of Greensboro (well, about 25 miles north of it). I hate it here. I would much rather go back to Roanoke, VA. You probably know there too. Its not too far north.

as for parts, what exactly are you doing with it. I know you said you wanted that one game in the OP, but is there anything else you will do with the computer? That will help us choose a parts list for you.

Honestly, gaming is about it, other than just basic internet browsing and video streaming.

you need an OEM disk of windows 7. that can be gotten at newegg with the rest of your parts, i always forget windows. sorry.

and yes, you will need a screen, keyboard, ethernet cable, and mouse. but that is all.

This just scares me becuase I have no idea what I'm really buying. I'm just trusting some guy I dont know that this build will do what I want lol.

There is a cable, called an SLI bridge that goes on top of your video card that connects the two. It makes them more or less 90% more powerful than a single one (maybe less, but somewhere up there). You put the cable to the monitor on the top card just as usual.

I'm curious. how did you come up with this build for gaming?

I'd get this SSD http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820148442 I know it's more expensive but it's faster and very reliable. Take a look at the performance difference here http://www.anandtech.com/bench/Product/401?vs=426

Never really liked OCZ's drives. I heard they sometimes had stability issues. I've had my M4 since October, been rock stable.

I don't mind spending the extra bucks. thanks for the suggestion. Is there a way I can guarantee that this build will run GW2 on max everything with no problems? Also, for the dual video cards, is there a cable on newegg I can get? I don't know which one to look for.
