custom build laptop? Can I replace my processor etc

Hey I have a sony vaio vgn-sr590cf that I bought 3 years ago with 6GB ram ddr2, intel core 2 duo T9600 2.80 GHz on windows 7 home premium 64 bit, 7200rpm hard drive and 500gb memory


I wanted to update the processor but I was scared things would be incompatible. For example, many things now are DDR3, will any intel processor still work with ddr2 ram?

I wanted to replace the 2gb chip with a 4gb chip, and get a better processor.


Any suggestions?

I would have thought so... but can you replace a laptop processor? I thought it was almost impossible? It should work okay... it should say on the box if not.
