windows 7 pro upgrade for 2 xp computers

I need to upgrade two windows xp computers. one is my hp dv6000 laptop, and the other is a gateway e4100 desktop. they both have enough ram and I ran the compatibility checker and it said I was good.

My question is, can I buy one copy of windows 7 pro upgrade, and use it on both PC's since I have two separate xp product keys? if not is there any way I can get a product key for two computers that isn't much more than the single?

thanks, I thought that was the case. I was planning on doing it later this year anyway, do you think the price will go down any after windows 8 is released?

Isnt Windows 8 already out? I thought some people here were already using it....

Either way, Windows 8 is probably going to be crap for desktop and wont effect the price of 7 at all.

As history has shown, new windows version releases have no effect on older versions until the older versions leave the shelves. Thank you Microsoft.

For example, I posted before about 2 years ago or so I seen Windows 7 next to Windows XP for the same price and both were basic versions.

I am gonna need a better graphics card too, I bought a used geforce4 MX 440 on amazon for like $8, I just wanted it for the extra monitor, but I didn't realize it would disable my onboard adapter (and I wasn't planning on upgrading then either). And it won't support the areo effects on 7. Can anyone recommend something cheap that can run the areo graphics, I only have AGP and the original PCI. I need a DVI port at least but a vga with it would be nice, but thats kind of hard to do because it has to be a low profile card also.

Thanks for you help!

I think I'll just wait until the $40 windows 8 upgrade comes out for my laptop, but unless I can find a fix for it, my 3ghz HT pentium 4 won't run windows 8, so I'll have to go win 7.

Good AGP graphic card: ATI Radeon Sapphire HD 3650 AGP
