New build, budget help!

So this is my build that i am trying to finalise. It will be mostly for gaming (bf3, skyrim and fifa) and probably quite a lot of photo editing and perhaps a little video editing as well. I'm also looking to over clock to at least 4.0 gHz. I really need help with the budget though as this setup costs to much. Hopefully i can get this down to the £1000-£1250 mark. I will be buying from amazon.co.uk and it needs to take into account shipping.

CM Storm Quickfire Rapid Mechanical Keyboard (this is quite expensive but i really want a Cherry MX Brown keyboard so any other advice would help.)

I may get another gtx 670 in the future and i will possibly upgrade to 16gb of ram too so please take that into account.

Thanks,

Do you have to buy from Amazon? If not, I'd recommend Novatech myself, their customer service is great. :)

What you have there looks nice, I'd drop the touchscreen fan controller though, apparently they are pests. Spend more on the motherboard and get a Gigabyte GA-Z77X-D3H or UD3H too.

Other than that all looks good to me. :) If you want I could configure you a build but I think you've got it pretty much sorted.

Please configure it for me, sounds great tbh. Also would i need to buy a wireless thing if i got the ud3h or d3h. also (again...) what would i use to control my fans if i dont get the sentry? also (ffs) is the amount of fans i have overkill? Also (this is ****ing ridiculous i know) is novatech cheaper? And finally how can i make this cheaper!

A lot of questions there, no worries. :)

Yes you'd need a wireless adapter if you got the D3H or the UD3H.

You can plug your fans into the motherboard or there are some cases (such as the NZXT Phantom, beautiful case), which come with fan controllers already installed.

No, you don't have as many fans as I do. :P

Not sure if they're cheaper but they're a dedicated hardware store, so I'd buy from them.

Can you wait until the morning for me to put a build together for you or would you like me to do one quickly for you now?

I'm sure i can wait until morning ;) so what would you recommend as a wireless adapter and would you recommend the nzxt phantom because i have been looking at it and have just been wondering wether it would be good for airflow. So in the morning could you specify a build with the phantom and all the case fans i would need for it. Thanks again, you've been alot of help already!

I'd recommend the Phantom as it looks cool, has amazing cable management features, has great airflow, lots of room (it's a big case), lots of fans, has a fan controller built in - generally all round great case.

Will spec you a build from Novatech in the morning.

im thinking about this mobo then:
gigabyte z77-ud3h-wb wifi

Good choice! :good:

OK if you want to spend all of your budget then here is a pretty sweet build.

I've put a copy of Windows 7 in here too just in case you need one, not sure if you will not or not. Bear in mind though if you get 16GB of RAM you'll need to get Pro or Ultimate, because Home Premium only supports up to 16GB (including RAM on the graphics card, and the GTX 670 has 2GB).

Total is £1209.84 inc. VAT

You could save money by going for a cheaper board and a cheaper CPU cooler if you wanted.

Ok so that looks awesome but i have even more questions...
Why the g-skills and not the corsair and will they fit under my cpu cooler as i am not sure what you meant when you wrote "be careful about getting those full height RAM DIMMs under that", and what are the differences between the ud5h and the wifi ud3h?

Also don't the seagate drives tend to have a hell of a lot of problems? and this beudget needs to include a keyboard and mouse and i would really like a mechanical MX Brown keyboard :/

I prefer G.Skill RAM, using their RAM now and it's good stuff.

8GB via 2x4GB DIMMs will fit fine, but if you populate all the bays with RAM then those DIMMs because they are so high may not fit underneath the cooler - would have the same problem with the Corsair RAM too.

I just went for the UD5H because you have the money, may as well spend it and get the best board possible. The UD5H is better for overclocking and has some other nice features too.

Sorry about another question but what would be a cheaper cpu cooler that is still effective?
I have the Arctic Cooling Freezer 13 myself and for £20 from Novatech it's a great cooler, and I can fit all of my RipJaws RAM underneath it, here's a sho of my system with the cooler.

And I have all 4 RAM bays populated.

I know i'm getting annoying now but thanks for the info that the graphics card memory is included on the limit...saved my life....Also would you be able to configure a fan setup for the case?
Thank you so much!

The case should already come with some fans installed, no need to buy more.

If you got the UD5H you'd need to buy a Wi-Fi adapter by the way, don't think it has it built in.

Also don't the seagate drives tend to have a hell of a lot of problems? and this budget needs to include a keyboard and mouse and i would really like a mechanical MX Brown keyboard :/ and i think the wifi ud3h will be good enough. I will probably now go and trawl the internet for the cheapest prices but thanks for the help :)

Ah didn't realise it had to include a keyboard and a mouse.

Seagate drives are fine - it's Toshiba and Hitachi who you need to look out for.

What about all the reviews about bad sectors etc? and any recommendations on a good mouse and good Cherry MX Brown keyboard?

Wouldn't worry about those reviews - that Seagate drive is faster than the Western Digital equivalent. I happen to own the WD equivalent, it's slow, if I could go back in time I'd buy that Seagate.

I'm not very good with peripherals sorry. I use a Logitech G400 gaming mouse myself, seems nice, so I'd recommend Logitech.
