this is to replace my current graphics card not a new build so the psu is what I have and not going to be replacing it. If it cant handle the 6850 what card should I look at.

I mean the psu is 585 watts It should handle it right?

I will be building a new computer soon and will be getting a better psu and the one linked looks like a good one but for the time being this is what I have to work with.

what john is trying to say is the psu is unreliable, and you should replace it. if it goes out it could take out other components with it. i recommend you do it, regardless of the gpu you put in it... 'weakest link' analogy.

ok so other than the power supply does it look like the card would work with my system?
Or is there another card that would be better.

I am just really doing this as a temp fix so that I can play d3, arma and a few other games that I need better than what i have. I am building a new computer and will be going with some different parts was planning on just installing this card on my current computer till the new build is done then putting the old one back ing for my wife.

so if i dont replace the psu. what would be a good card for my system. the only reason to buy the 6850 was because its what i want in my new build but if i can put a descent card in this one and save some money for the new build that would be cool also

If you are using Windows 8 RP... Like you said... you will encounter numerous graphic problems probably at this stage. Its not really compatible yet. When I tried RP with steam, it glitched all the games graphics out so they do not spawn properly.

Notice this for GTA SAN ANDREAS:

really, I think it's more a problem with your pc if I look into your specs...

honestly I didnt notice the graphics messing up when I had windows 7 on this computer. didnt even think about that. I still want to upgrade the card but I may consider going to windows 7. The only reason I have 8 is that when i bought this comp from a friend the windows 7 on it wasnt legit. I updated and it quit working. I finally got linux on it after removing some memory and then installed the windows 8 free trial. I will have to try and see if i can find windows 7 for free somewhere.

Ok so I decided to go with a 6670 in my current computer. From my understanding this will be leaps and bounds better than my 4350. Also would not require a psu upgrade. If I'm wrong here guys please let me know.

I will post my new build for advice soon. I appreciate the help I've received here.
