new hard drive in laptop not recognised?

I have a laptop and the har drive failed, I installed a new hard drive and chucked the old hard drive out. I tried to install the operating system that came with the laptop but it won,t recognise the new hard drive, I have installed a fresh copy of win xp on the laptop, but I wont to install the software that came with the laptop? How can I do this

What software are you talking about? What operating system was on the laptop before?

during installation of windows 7, there is a part that you will be allowed to install the drivers of hdd. I am thinking that your drive need to have driver installed to run properly.

It's unlikely that's his problem, as Vista and 7 both have native SATA support and should see the drive perfectly fine.
