My brother was getting rid of his ASUS and I got it for a steal. My HP is about a year newer but both are impressive for gaming. The ASUS has a vastly superior cooling system, so I'm thinking it might just be more geared towards gaming?

Which is the overall better laptop? Which is the better gaming laptop? Pros and cons of each? Thanks for your help!

I actually have a G73 sitting on my table that is all ripped apart as some thing died so I decided to use the guts of it as a project..

Anyhow..was a decent laptop, performed well enough with the GTX460M, second gen i7, can take 1600mhz ddr3,, etc..

But its like 2+ years old now and 2 models old in the G line

Not sure what the specs are of the HP exccept the new one on HP site says third gen i7, but no GPU info.

Second-generation 2-GHz Intel Quad Core i7-2630QM CPU, 8GB of RAM, a 120GB solid state drive, and a 540GB, 7,200-rpm hard drive

Generally if I have a choice between Asus and HP, especially one from the G series, and if the specs are relatively similar, then I'd definitely choose the Asus for better customer service and build quality.

Asus customer service is complete trash, and their warranty is bogus--they will blame the user and not honor many things they claim are covered.

That being said--HP is also complete trash in that regard--
