Ok so my budget is about $1000. I want to be able to play Guild Wars 2 on highest settings with no lag and perfect fps. And any other game at the lvl of graphics. Where to begin? What should I buy? Heard i should come here and all the nerds would argue bout what to get. Sounds good, lets begin.

Is that united states dollars, or Austrailian dollars, or Canadian dollars? can't say from the sign.

But I would go with something like a 2500k, hyper 212 EVO, Z77 UD3H, and a GTX 660ti. Plus the case, hard drive, power supply, and other various components to make it whole. But without knowing which dollar your in we can't make a full list for you.

okay. Here is a list then.

and sorry, its $70 over budget fully assembled, but you will not beat it for the money.

It could be made cheaper by going to a AMD build, but I would not suggest you do that. the 2500k there is a much better processor. Could also get a cheaper case and just use the stock cooler, but that is not rally a good choice either. You also need a DVD drive and windows 7. Windows 7 is $100 right off the bat, and a DVD drive is about $20, just grab the cheapest one when you buy. They change daily.

I would change the HDD and it would be fine. That hdd isn't very fast...

Now let's compare it to these and see whats better to go with.
I looked at 2 parts on the build from the other place, and quit looking after that. Didn't really need to keep looking after the cpu, but looked at the sound card anyways.
Both were pointless and a waste of budget.

What's the methodology here? Are we supposed to hop around and say which is better? imo Not the best way to learn about choices and come up with a build list you like and are comfortble with.

This case was okay 5 years ago. It has no cable management at all. Get something better and your system will last longer. The 300R is great for the money.
This is respectable RAM but you are better off going for RAM will clear your heatsink that is missing from your build.

Do not touch this with a 20 meter pole. ASrock is a low cost low quality board. For a gaming computer, get Gigabyte or MSI which both are higher quality. Asus is okay too, but their support sucks donkey.

Is this a good build for $1000?
The build is okay. Fix the motherboard and you will have a much better build.

Benny is on the right tract here. And I will at least try to explain why unlike the guys on the other forum you linked (who really sound like they don't know their arse from a hole in the ground).

Second thing. It will run a lot better if you listen to guys that know computers about your build, instead of coming to the experts and also getting advice from a group of idiots. One or the other man.

300R or the Antec 302.

300R http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811139011
300R Windowed http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811139016

302 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811129180&Tpk=antec 302

If it were me, it would be the 300R every single time. Whether you get the windowed one or not is up to you though. Sometimes having a window can be nice if you like to show off, be aware it's easy to get scratched though.

Yup get this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820233186 or this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231314 either is good.

ASUS is fine.

OP, for a bit more, you can get a better board http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128546&Tpk=ga-z77x-d3h that will be good.
