Need a new GFX card...

Is there an easy to use web site that can tell me the best possible GFX card that i can install on my comp? That or would you guys be able to tell me if i put my details here?
 
It depends on what you are going to be using it for and your budget. I would say that depending on the usage, it would be the Quadro 6000 and GTX 690 respectively.

If you are gaming we need to know what games and a budget.

If you are using CAD, or other rendering programs then we need a budget also.
 
Ok, i want to be able to play hrrm let's say Diablo III on as max graphics as i can. Budget is really no matter. I already have a GeForce 8800 in my back up rig, with 4GB ram, W7-64bit, and a Dual Core Intel 6700 @ 2.66 GHz. This only lets me play Diablo on shitty settings though. Well, unless i want to feel like i am running through syrup.

GTX570 or 660ti and a new PSU.
 
The rig i am looking to upgrade though is currently running Vista 32-bit Business Edition (not my idea and i am looking to change it, suggestions on this will be welcome too). It has an ASUS M2NPV-VM mb, an AMD Athalon (tm) 64x 2 dual core 5200+ 2.60 GHz.

Having updated the device manager i have found it has a GeForce 6150 (which doesn't exactly help). It also only has 2GB of RAM however i'll swap the newer RAM from my back up rig to this one so it has 4 GBs.

Just wondering if this changes anything. I take it the two dual cores roughly add up to a quad core?

The back up computer with a E6700 is faster then the X2 5200 your wanting to upgrade.

The problem with the back up rig is that the mb can't support anything significantly better than it already has. I could throw in a new CPU but i doubt that'll help when the main problem with games like DIII for my comp is the graphics.
 
It is still faster. You would be better off pulling the 8800 for the one you want to upgrade, and putting something like a GTX 460 or HD 6850/6870 for the backup rig.

For that CPU then, you will bottle it pretty quick. Don't get anything better than a GTX560ti. It won't be worth it.

The E6700 will overclock like all hell and use a GTX570.

Your choice.
 
Ok...so slam the 8800 GTi in the Athalon one and get a GTX560ti for my back up rig and make it my main one now? Are you sure the 6700 will be ok with that GFX card? The mobo it has is a ASUS P5N-E SLI. I was told it wouldn't be able to handle a better processor either which again is a big worry. I appreciate all of your advice and help btw @ anyone who has posted in this thread or read it, it's an annoying tricky situation but i'm at the end of my tether and on the verge of taking it out on my tech.

I'm more of a networking/programming person than actual hardware which i have to admit to being a bit of a nub on. Sadly my brother who is 5 star @ tech isn't here to help atm and won't be until he returns.

To simplify then:

Mobo: ASUS P5N-E SLI
CPU: Dual Core Intel 6700 @ 2.66 GHz
GFX: Geforce 8800 GTi
OS: Win 7 64 Bit
RAM: 4GB of the expensive shit lol.
HD: 1TB (my brother was extremely impressed with it and seemed jealous so it must be good)

Mobo: ASUS M2NPV-VM
CPU: AMD Athalon (tm) 64x 2 dual core 5200+ 2.60 GHz
GFX: GeForce 6150
OS: Vista 32 bit Business Edition
RAM: 2GB of avergae RAM.
HD: 500GB standard HD from what i can tell, if important i can find out properly. Same with the above.

What to do, what to do.

So a Quad 6600 B2 revision SLACR in the ASUS P5N-E SLI? And for the GFX card a GTX 460? Then slam the 8800 in my now back up baby? I don't like Athalon processors anyway tbqh.

With this in mind, i am only a mobo/tower unit away from a new comp as i can rip the very new and annoyingly expensive RAM out of my Intel and use all the other necessaries from one or the other. I have various H/Ds i could slap in it too. Money wise and in order to have something upgradable in the future i may be best making a new rig, no?

Then creating something relatively good as a back up from the two i have.

Core 2 Quad Q6600 (2.40GHz,1066FSB,L2:2X4MB,rev.G0,4 cores

On the motherboard's CPU supported list. It will work, but get the SLACR model. If you can get a new one, get that.

Graphics wise, GTX570 or similar.

My Intel baby has a 650 watt PSU atm, i'm not sure about the other. I can check if you want but i know it is less than this one.
 
All i need to know is the model and brand of the PSU in the computer that you plan to add the new CPU and GPU too.
