Guys,

I have installed Acronis True Image Home 2010 onto my new pc. I have also installed the drivers and office 2010 pro edition. What i would like to do now is use my imaging software to take a system image in it's current state and burn that image to a DVD, is anybody able to tell me how to do this perhaps as i want to ensure i do this right.

Thanks

Do you have an external hard drive by chance? It's a lot easier to just make an image on another drive than it is to make a CD.

If not, just start Acronis, and choose Disk and Partition Backup. The default C drive should already be selected, then tell it to make the image on a DVD (tick the box that says to make the disc bootable). Then just continue through the prompts.

If i create it on an external HD would i not still need to transfer the image on a DVD anyway?

You don't need to transfer the image to a DVD at all. You just need to be sure you have a bootable recovery CD and then use that to recover the image to the computer.

I don't have a bootable cd, where can i go to create one? I do have an external HD and some old IDE drives(coverter using USB connection), if i use an external HD does it matter if it has data already in it or does it need to be completely empty? Hopefully that makes some sense.

The image is its own file, so yes, other data can be on the drive.

On the main page of Acronis, there is a button that says "Create bootable media". You use that to make a bootable Acronis CD.
