GAH, overclocking help

Sorry guys.... for bombarding this forum with multiple threads. Hopefully someone else can find this thread useful too!

i5-3570K + ASUS P8Z77-V LK

I went to the bios mode, but couldn't find a section for overclocking. Also, if I find that I can increase the frequency, is that all that I need to change? Do I need to change the voltage? If so, how do I know how much to raise by?

You won't need to change the frequency, you need to change the multiplier.
First try an overclock to 4.2ghz with no added voltage, if that doesn't work, then you need to increase by a bit (~0.010 - 0.025)

Could you explain this "multiplier"?

Also, is there a risk associated with ruining the CPU if I misadjust the multiplier?

only if you set the voltage too high and temps go up. If you get an error on startup just start the pc again and go back in bios.

The clock of your pc = multiplier x frequency.

Hey, this stupid ASUS bios menu doesn't have the option for frequency multiplier. Or maybe I'm blind.

you went in bios after starting the pc? Don't use the software oc tools.

if you are in the bios, go to advanced, then AI tweaker, then you set ai overclock tuner to manual, turbo ratio --> by all cores and then you can see "by all cores (can adjust in os)"

set that to 42 and you're done.

warning: that image is not from me, don't use the oc tuner!!!!! (I just used the image as example)

Yea, that's the menu I see (before Win7 loads).

So, what is this OC Tuner that you're saying I shouldn't use?

I seem to have a newer version, and I don't see the same options.

I saw Turbo Ratio or whatever, had 4 cores with 41 values in them, and something else enabled before them. Having this enabled lets me only put 42 on the first core.

You have to set to manual and take "by all cores". Disable all powersaving and automatic vcore voltage.
