Non Linear editor?

So it has been announced that light works is coming to Linux, the Beta is being released next month and I am excited to see how it compares to openshot. My question is they call light works a "non linear editor" and I was wondering what thats means and how would it differ from openshot or for those of you who have never used openshot something like the newer versions of windows movie editor.

Thanks Wolfeking, from my understanding is it has the ability of copy and pasting. I did miss read I guess they are only releasing Alpha version next month but it means we are close and according to the Linux Action Show this software is on par with Final Cut which I am interested to see.
