Another ASUS Eee 1005-HA question.

Very recently, another member (Bigfellla) came to the rescue, and aided me in getting life back into our little NetBook. No more black screening, but there is yet a problem which we need to counter. Actually, there are two issues.

1). Whenever booting up, now, we are always faced with that first screen. It is the screen which gives options for entering into the BIOS settings area. That screen will remain there until such time as either the F1 or F2 button is pressed. The F1 button will open up a settings selection window, whereas the F2 button will allow the Windows boot up. This, in and of itself, is not such a huge biggie, but it does speak of something that isn't right. The largest concern is in the following, second issue.

2). No WIFI.

This NetBook was purchased from a friend, early last year, but was without manual or (more importantly) restoration disk. To rise above the recent problem that we had, I needed to get my hands on an XP OS disk. That was done, and I was able to get the NetBook operational again ( for the most part, anyway). I have tried everything I could think of, to get WIFI connectivity on it as we had before, but all has been to no avail. I am wondering if there were needed drivers in the OEM disk for the NetBook, that might have been missing from the Retail disk version that I recently used. I have also effectuated searches, all over the Internet, for the proper WIFI drivers. I wasn't able to find anything that would work.

All suggestions would be hugely appreciated.

Go here: http://support.asus.com/Download.aspx?SLanguage=en&m=EEE+PC+1005HA&p=20&os=

enter Win Xp into the drop down box.

Scroll down to Wireless LAN driver and download/install it.

It seems there are 2 drivers so you may need to find out which wireless card you have.

Your first problem may also be related to drivers because you have reinstalled XP fresh from a disk. You can get all related drivers from the site above.

Yes, I had gone there, but nothing they had worked for me. However, I did try another OS version (Win7) and finally succeeded in obtaining what I'd been looking for. I still had the situation where I had to hit the F2 button, in order to proceed. But once I was booted up, everything else was fine. So, now, it is a matter of buying myself a Win7 OS just as soon as I can.

Thanks, though.

I, in general, have always had troubles with Asus and their services.
In my opinion (and my personal opinion alone), I would request people to refrain from anything Asus. HP and Dell are way way way better.
