Broken H60?

Hey guys after doing some overclocking on my 3570k to benchmark I returned it back to my 24/7 oc of 4.5. Looking at the temps I was idling at 56c! Normally I am in the mid to low 30s. Watching the temps over the the last 10 minutes it has been on a steady rise from the mid 50s. It is now approaching 80c. I held my hand on the block and it I can't feel any vibration so I am thinking that the pump might be dead. Thoughts?

EDIT: Just FYI I reset it back to stock. It is currently running at 1.6GHz with .94v with all of the power saving settings enabled.

Didn't know my benchmark was so heavy!

But now serious, when you reset the bios, did you get lower temps?

I might have you two pay for a new cooler :P

Resetting the CPU back to stock only lowered the temps a few degrees when I boot the system. After a few minutes it starts the climb towards 80c again. It usually takes under 10 minutes to get pretty high.

I replaced the H60 with the Intel stock cooler and I am now idling at 32c and I got up to ~60 at load. I think I can confirm that the cooler is broken.

I am thinking about replacing it with this

I kinda want to switch back to air cooling.

Won't go for that one, the hyper 212 plus is better and costs much less. If you want a good aircooler go to a noctua nh-d14, a scythe mugen 3 or a silver arrow sb-e (I really recommend this one, I'm getting 67degrees max @ 4.8ghz). You need a big case, but I don't think it'll be a problem for your case. If you can get the silver arrow sb-e (sb-e is the new version, better then the non) I would surely got with that. Scythe mugen 3 < noctua nh-d14 < silver arrow sb-e < h80 < silver arrow sb-e Extreme.

Is your H60 still under warranty?

Maybe Corsair will 'upgrade' you for the inconvenience ;)

I bought it from another member here a while back. It would be nice to get a free cooler from them but I was looking for a reason to upgrade anyway.

Well here is what I am looking for. I want to switch back to air but I have tall RAM so I am kinda limited on what coolers I can really get. I want to keep the CPU as low as possible. I would not really be opposed to paying around the $80+ mark if it is worth it but if I can get 95% of the performance for half the money I'll go that route.

its got a 5 year warranty, RMA it. will be cheaper than the alternatives (postage, and you will know the results)

I got ram from ripshawX series, they are also very tall in height. I could lift the fan high enough, I'll take a picture of it. I don't know the noctua is as flexible.
