My first gaming rig.

So this is my first time putting together a gaming pc for myself, and was wondering if I could get advice as to whether or not the pieces I was thinking about would work symbiotically. Here are the pieces

Amd 8-core zambezi 3.6ghz

Asus crosshair V formula am3+ 990fx

Nzxt phantom red case

G Skills ripjaw X series 2x8 gbs

Radeon 7950 3gbs

Power supply is still way open to comments and suggestions, I have no idea what size I will need.

go for 2x4gbs, never will use that much in gaming in the near future and easy to upgrade later, just recently broke the 4gb rule (first game to need over 4gb to max perfectly or something like that.)

650w corsair, antec, nzxt, pc power and cooling, seasonic, silverstone and a few others.

if you can an i5-3570k and a gigabyte z77 mobo would be much better

also need a copy of windows

I really didnt want to go over 190-200 on a processor, but I defenitely will look keep it an option.

i mean the fx will do fine but intel is much better in the end, will last longer andall, but if you want amd i'd see be looking for when piledriver comes out, the fx-8350 should be slightly stronger, but much more power efficient and has some fixes for some stuff, and with the fx line's great overclocking it would keep up much better than the 8150

I was defenitely thinking about overclocking the zambezi, how much wil the 8350 cost?

bit more but still less than the 3570k, but won't be out for a few months IIRC. If you want you can use a 4100 for now then upgrade to it when it comes out, you won't miss out on too aweful much but if you talk to i think claptonman on here who got a 6100, h regrets not going for the 3570k, he games fine but he notices the difference compared to a friends system.

Really i'd probably go for a 660ti/7870 3570k build over a 7950/670 8120

oh almost forgot, go for the 8120, save a chunk and can easilly overclock to the 8150 on the stock cooler.
