i7 3770? overclocking?

nope, k has an unlocked multiplier made fo overclocking, non-k is locked. the other method of overclocking with the FSB or BC (can never remember but i think intel now has BC)is normally good but with the newest processors it becomes very unstable and will loose data or something like that, just doesn't work out

yup, like i have said in your other posts, you can not over clock the 3770. thats why i said you should return it when you got it and pay the xtra $20 and get the "k" version so it will last you a bit longer down the road since you dont want to have to upgrade. but also like i have said before, the 3770 is a strong cpu, and should do you just fine for a good while

like i said. it depends on what your doing. if your just gaming, then id say you dont need to overclock it. but if your running a real high end gpu, or 2, then overclocking would be good to eliminate any bottlenecking. or, if your doing media editing, with like transcoding, or adding effects, then an overclocked i7 would be great to have as it will get the job done faster. other than that, there is really noneed. and for you sonce you are just gaming, then 3.5Ghz with its 3.9ghz turbo boost mode, id say you are good to go. no worries
