upgrade 64 bit win 8 from 32 bit vista

I thought it would be a great time to add some memory and upgrade to windows 8 X 64 bit, it seems you can't do that. Suggestions? will I first have to upgrade to windows 7 X 64 bit then upgrade again to windows 8 that I already bought the disk for?

It sounds like you are upgrading from 32 to 64.. Unless your processor is 64 bit capable then DO NOT DO THIS. IT WILL NOT WORK. You can also not upgrade from 32 to 64 by using the Upgrade feature. It has to be a clean install.

Windows 8 is pointless really unless you have a touch screen. Keep it on windows 7 for the best experience.

Upgrade to XP xD
(Some may understand what I am trying to say lol).
That under no circumstance is an answer. XP is not worth it at all. And it is far from an upgrade from any newer operating system.
You may use XP, but please don't be telling others to use it. It is dead now.

For goodness sake. This is getting old now.

Stars comment has been deleted and will start deleting other nonsense replies. I agree with both of you.

I guess there was some misunderstanding. I was running vista upgrade and bought windows 8 pro disk. Windows 8 does not sell a full version, only an upgrade. It appears that there is no way to load win 8 X 64 bit unless you are already running a 64 bit prerequisite program. This is a huge oversight by Microsoft. I predict the CEO will be fired and sent to Siberia. I know about the requirements for running 64 bit and my computer is capable of handling it. I also know that a 32 bit OS can only handle 4 gigs RAM, a 64 bit OS can run a much higher memory. Handling video editing has a huge resource demand and 64 bit is almost a necessity. so far I'm almost ready to use my windows disks as Frisbees. Hey Microsoft, how about a service pack to put the control icons back where they were. It's frustrating and maddening to not know where to turn the computer on or off or not be able to escape the Microsoft "store", how about a little X in the upper r h corner. It's like going to a store and they lock the door until you buy something.

Just go to microsoft's digital download links to 64bit Win 7. Make sure its 64bit. Burn it to a DVD or mount it using PowerISO Install Win 7 and then immediately (without trying to activate) upgrade to Win 8 that you own.

These are legit isos from MS, just install it properly, and then immediately upgrade to your copy of Win 8.
