To make a forum

Hi
I will make a new forum , and my question is :
What do i need at beginning ?(every suggestion to have a better forum)

Just get a host and you get dozens of forum softwares with it. Building a forum from scratch is also an option but would require a team and time.
 
A decent webhost, don't ever use one of those free ones. I recommend HawkHost personally.

Good free forum software I recommend are MyBB and Vanilla, phpBB and SMF suck, stay away from them.

Good paid software I recommend is IP.Board or Xenforo (though XF's future hangs in the balance due to a lawsuit from vB) and stay the hell away from vBulletin. They charge way too much for their crap.
 
Plus the fact vBulletin 5 is looking more and more crappy. That's why CoFo is still on vBulletin 3.
 
All free webhosts are bad, except 000webhost is okay but has limited bandwith. For free, use Simple Machines Forums, I love it. Also, for paid I say Invision boards or VB if you want a forum software most people know.

There's no exception for 000webhost, and it's pretty bad too. SMF is total crap by the way, and never ever buy vB.

Well don't ever put a forum on it you actually want people to join, haha.
SMF is terribly outdated, sure, they've recently begun development again, but it's still horribly outdated.
 
I would suggest Forumotion.
I'm not agree with the persons who think that free softwares are bad.

In my opinion, Forumotion (which is using Phbb software btw) is the most interesting and powerful website to create a forum.
Good possibilities of customization and a very good support forum for any question.

They also don't let you export your data, phpBB is total crap, and customization? Give me a break. If you host your forum yourself you can customize the hell out of it, even more so than crappy Forumotion lets you. Free hosted forum solutions are not the way to go unless you're a total idiot who's doing this just for fun and doesn't want his forum to have any real future.
 
I qctually don't like SMF very much. But it has great plugin support and a better plug in system then any other forum software I have seen that's free.
 
Invisionfree or Zetaboards is probably the best places to get a free forum, if you want to make a real forum though you need to get hosting and a domain and more.. Plus licensing for forum software.

Don't need a license if you go with MyBB or Vanilla, or even some of the crap stuff like phpBB and SMF.
