Dell Customer service

Dell Sucks

I purchased a new Dell not even 3 months ago and what did I get: The hard drive makes a constant gurgeling noise that drives me nuts. It now sits on a pillow to make it quiet. The CD/dvd drive sounds like a freight train when I upload software, the keyboard misses letters when I type, I have a virus because the antivirus they installed is crap. To kick it all off I get the run around when I get on the phone with them. They tell me my account is on hold why. Because they dont want to hear me which makes me even more upset. They want to send me a new hard drive thinking that will fix a vibration. What really gets me is that their customer service- They give me the run around and think I don't know what is going on. I gave my service tag to no less than 6 people in the last two hours and they all send me to someone else. I will never purchase another Dell.
 
Working with difficult people is well... difficult. Make it a challenge to learn about what is wrong with your computer so you can ask them only the most relevant questions. That's the way you'll solve your problems.

In fairness I just got off the phone with one of the guys at dell who finally called me back after sent an email giving one more chance to make things right. They are sending new parts to fix the problem which I do appreciate. This is a good lesson for anyone selling products that require good tech support and good reputation- Customer service will go a long way, I would say just as far a quality product another words people want good customer service just as much as a good product. If Dell fixes this and stands by the product I will post exactly what happens and change my name on here. Unfortunately some at Dell wanted to play games and give the run around while one of the guys over there was decent enough to go the extra mile.
 
To be fair to Dell, their consumer support does need some work sometimes. However, I have not had an unpleasant experience with them before. And the difference between dealing with their consumer and business support is night and day.

For the most part Dell customer service does suck. I will never recommend another Dell product to anyone.

You won't recommend CONSUMER machines! Commercial and Business machines are far superior.

This. That's why I'm recommending a Vostro business machine to a friend whose emachines is limping along, rather than a consumer grade model. The Dell business machines are much more reliable and the customer service people are in a different league.

This is why I don't really like people who say "ohhhh HP customer service sucks". Yeah, maybe for their consumer products it does, but their support for ProLiant servers is great. They'll be there within 4 hours and with parts if you have any hardware issues.

Dad works a lot with servers and has recently found that Dell's customer support even for their servers hasn't been as good as that of HP. A lot of phone calls have been made to Dell from what I hear and still nothing really resolved. Apparently the problem is a dead disk, Dad knows that, but Dell just won't acknowledge it.
