HD gone after failed partition?

So I was wondering why my Hard Drive will not show up on 'My Computer' but my SSD did. Later I realized that it has not been partitioned yet. So I went into Disk Management and where is said unallocated (Disk 1 I believe) I right clicked and hit partition. It's a 2TB hard drive so it should take a while. I left my computer overnight because it was already 2am and it was taking more than an hour. Stupid me, I forgot to turn the sleep mode off. So during the night, the computer went to sleep mode while it was partitioning the hard drive. This morning I turn on the computer and it said it failed to partition because the computer went to sleep mode. Now my hard drive won't show up in Disk Management anymore. I checked the BIOS and it's picking up the hard drive. I just can't find it once I start it. Does anyone know how I can get it back to Disk Management? I wanted to partition the Hard Drive into 2 parts. an E:\ drive and G:\ drive.

Hmm, try unplugging and replugging in the HDD, and if you select "Quick Format" it does it within a couple of minutes.

Have you tried disconnecting the drive and connecting it again? What about putting the drive in another computer to test if it shows up in disk management?

If reconnecting the HDD does not help to show it in DISK MANAGEMENT again then erase the entire HDD using bootable tool called Kill Disk.
Once that is finished, exit the Kill Disk, shut down the computer and unplug the HDD.
Turn on the computer and when you get to Windows, connect the HDD again and when you hear the CONNECTED sound which Windows will produce,go to DISK MANAGEMENT again and see if the HDD is now there.

NOTE: You will need to initialize the drive first before doing anything since you have completely erased it with the Kill Disk.

Cheers!

I don't have anything on the HDD. It's completely empty. I was formatting it to make it show up under 'My Computer'. I have tried unplugging it and plugging it back in.

I will try unplugging it, booting the computer, and plugging it in again to hear the sound. Is there a way to format it through the BIOS like I did with the SSD when I installed the OS?

I did the Quick Format before my computer went to sleep. And I can't do quick format until the HDD will show up under Disk Management.

You did not understand what I was trying to say.
Your HDD is NOT completely empty. You need to write zeros to each sector on the HDD using the way I gave you above. So please do exactly what I said above and the report back with the results. Here is a link to a thread I made here some time ago on how to do that:

I guess I did understand you wrong. I will try this and get back to you. Thanks for the support.

I fixed the problem thanks. My HD is now formatting, actually, is it supposed to be formatting for this long? It is now 7:30pm and I started yesterday at midnight. So it has been formatting for a good 20 or so hours. I know is 2TB, but dang 20hrs? Also I didn't do the quick format. I did regular.

Apparently, my HD was defective. I did full clean and it finally started to format and showed up on my Disk Mangement page. But it kept on going to Not Responding when formatting and kept on giving me issues with my whole system. Sometimes would even freeze the whole thing or won't let me shutdown without holding the power button or the reset button. Newegg gave me an exception since my 30day return was up and is giving me a full refund ($110) on the HD.

Does anyone have any recommendation on a 2TB harddrive that will actually works and last that is around $110?
