Windows 7 is not compatible with Sonicstage

I admit my MP3 player is rather old, but it's always served me well until I updated my PC with Windows 7. My Sony Walkman is model HDD NW-HD3 and its software is Sonicstage, which is not compatible with Windows 7.

I've loaded lots of tracks onto it, and although they can all be listed, AND they play through the PC, when I plug in my earphones, I get the message "Database not found".

The solution from Sony is to load Windows Vista onto my computer (not ideal) although I have it on a netbook, but can't work out if that will be of any help.

Have you tried running Sonicstage in comparability mode with XP or Vista? (Right click the shortcut, Properties>Compatibility. Tick the box and choose an OS from the drop down menu).

I appreciate your speedy reply, but I'm afraid I need the information in plain(er) English please. I will be able to do what you're advising, but I'll need step-by-step details.

Like I said, right click the program shortcut and just do what this picture shows.
