People in this forum all over the world. I am in UK, there are ppl in AU/ europe. Price massively different in different part of the world

well the next logical question is, is it cheaper here or more expensive.

US is cheaper then europe. E.g. i5-3570k in US is $215, UK is £169 ~ $273

Here give you some idea of $1050 machine.

If you want to stick with $1000, you could probably not getting after market heatsink and downsize ssd to 64 GB

Windows: I just allowed Windows 7, you can buy Windows 8 if you want.

Go to YouTube and watch some full tutorials on how to build a PC, or follow a tutorial elsewhere. I think it's best to watch how it's done first, just to get a good idea, before doing the product research itself.

Websites like 'pcpartpicker.com' are good for selecting parts, and they come with user ratings so you can choose the best components for your money, i.e., you don't want to be buying components where 50 people have rated it 1-2 stars!

It is also very important that you are buying compatible components together. When I looked at my first build, I was stupidly unaware that CPU's have certain sockets which need to fit the motherboard in order to work, so just make sure everything will work together by posting your build on a forum or checking the compatibility section of pcpartpicker.com

$1000 or £750 is a good price I'd say for a decent gaming PC which will do the job and last a bit of time before needing upgrades. Make sure you choose a sufficient and good power supply too!

wow that was in depth. i may be able to get my hands on a tower later for free. ill see what the specs are and let you guys know. maybe its a cheaper start?

ok toby thanks everyone for the help. i think his other tower, he said had something like an fbi spyware type deal. sounds like a virus? ill get it and check it out.

Ok the stuff I gathered on the tower. It's a thermotech? Case, 4 fans, I don't remember the CPU. And idk about the mother board either. But it has windows 7 ultimate but only 32 bit 3gb ram. Graphics is a ATI Radeon hd 4350.

Good? Bad? Worth getting?

Yeah, I mean it saves me a power supply, a case, a DVD drive, the fans. And whatever else I can re use. Pretty much everything else goes tho right?
