Are these parts good for a new computer

Hey. Recently my laptop died so I was going to make a custom computer. But I don't know what parts are good. Here is a list I made http://pcpartpicker.com/p/ro8x

Now I am wondering if these parts are good or if I could get better parts for cheaper or whatever. I want them to last but I don't want this computer to be extremely expensive. Keep in mind that I live in winnipeg Manitoba Canada so if I can get parts that are cheaper or the same around here I will take them. Also do pcpartspicker and newegg charge extra tax to me or is the price I see what I spend overall

Also is everything here compatible?

Don't know what the tax laws are there. You could try putting something in a cart to see if there's tax?
CanadaDirect might have some deals.
Newegg has eblast promos you can only get by signing up for them and they have some deals you might be interestd in atm. NE has combos too.

Go for a better mb to go w/ 3570K.
That hdd would be good if your getting an ssd. A black, F3, or Seagate would be a tad faster. The blue has a good price tho.
The 900 has poor features inside for your hardware. No cable management options and the drive cage design is lacking. You can get better features for less and I know you'll have to like what it looks like.

Don't know if this pricing is the best for you, CanadaDirest has free ship but probly tax. TigerDirect is another place to check for the best prices. NE has good pics, product specs and manufr'r links.

I was on another forum and they said I should get a full tower case if I want to upgrade. Actually they might have said a full ATX motherboard but I can't find the post.
 
An atx motherboard will fit a midtower case. What kind of upgrade plans are you talking about? Usually you only need a full tower when you plan on having lots of storage HDD's.
 
Oh ok thanks. I would also like a tower with a window on the side but I don't really need one like that.

Also do I need a sound card or do the parts already have a sound card built in? Also will my computer be able to wirelessly connect to the Internet if I ditch the network card?

All motherboards come with onboard high definition sound which is pretty good. You will need to buy a wireless card if you want to connect wirelessly. But if you plan on doing any online gaming I recommend against it. You really want a wired connection for gaming.

The speakers you use will determine what type of sound you get though. I use onboard sound and have $80 set of speakers and sub and its amazing.
 
Thanks for the info. But is there a decent tower on pcpartspicker I could get? I want all my stuff on the same site so I can see what's compatible and so I can manage it easier.
 
All you can do is find a case you like and pick it. The coolermaster haf series is great. They have good cable management and cooling.
 
Sound cards are pretty pointless in my opinion unless you're spending at least 100 dollars or more on your speakers/headphones. Anything lower won't notice much or any difference. If you're just gaming and watching movies and stuff like that it's not necessary. If you're a hardcore audiophile and do any kind of audio mixing or anything like that with high end audio, then it's probably best to get one.

Or is there compatibility issues. Can I get better parts for less? Also do the parts all come with the cables I need to hook this stuff up or do I need to buy them separately?

And is building a custom computer hard (sorry for all the questions)
 
It's basically a faster version of USB with a higher transfer rates. I'm not exactly sure what all uses it. Mainly external HDD's. However your motherboard will have some USB 3.0 in the back that you can use for that if needed. The case not having it just means that the ports on the front are USB 2.0 rather than 3.0.

The mb's I/O panel will have usb 3. It's faster at transfering data if the device 3.0, such as an external hdd. 3.0 and 2.0 are compatible with each other.

I'd still like to see you get a better mb. Your getting a processor that oc's nicely and the DS3H doesn't have as good of a power delivery or cooling capacity as say, this one
