Are these parts good for a new computer

I don't think I will get the 212+ because I have to use thermal paste and stuff

It's not difficult. Just squeeze a SMALL amount right in the middle. Some argue that you should spread it around evenly and other says the pressure will do it on it's own. Just a small riced size amount in the middle and put the Heatsink on top of it. The harder part is reapplying thermal paste and/or changing your HSF later.

The problem is that the fan doesn't come with the paste and I am going to upgrade my computer a lot in the future. Also what's wrong with the cooler that comes with the CPU?

If I was doing a new build, I would most likely add a SSD. I would suggest the Samsung 840 Pro.

20" widescreen monitor is pretty small. For $20 more, you can get a 24" from Newegg or Amazon.

The 212 does come with the paste. Almost all CPU coolers do. Even if it didn't it would cost like maybe 5 bucks for some Arctic Silver. The one that comes with the CPU is okay at stock clocks but if you're overclocking you want a better cooler. You have the 3570K so you'll probably overclock at some point.

No it's not. I've used it and it's actually really slick and works well on a regular computer. The ads show all the touchscreen stuff but it works just like Windows 7 but with some cooler looking stuff and improved functionality on some things. Windows 7 is great but 8 works just as well and it seems pointless to me to get the older tech when the newer stuff works just as well if not better. Essentially the start button is replaced with the start screen with all the tiles you see on the ads. Works really well from what I've used of it. I regret not getting the upgrade when it was like 30-40 dollars.

For a desktop the new start menu is completely useless. I used the release preview on my old laptop and it wasn't that good. It's a pain to get to certain settings that were much easier when there was the old start menu. And apart from the new start screen it is basically windows 7 with a strap-on. But of course that my opinion if you like it that great I just prefer windows 7 because there isn't a big difference between the 2 unless you use a touch screen.

I agree with you on Windows 8. Just use whichever OS you're used to - you're the one using it at the end of the day, not us!

Hardware wise, it's looking good! :good:

No don't get me wrong. It's totally up to you as its your computer. I just like Windows 8 from the little I've seen. :)

You'll have a very nice build there. I'm jelly.

Now I know my friends stores price is more but he doesn't charge shipping and handling and the other sites do. Keep in mind both of these places don't have tax included with it so you will have to add another 12%

So what place is a better deal?

Can't you just do the math yourself? Especially since you'll be able to figure out shipping and taxes for yourself. If the prices are close I'd get it from the friend just as an act of courtesy.

Go for the cheapest. Doesn't your friend give you some 5-10% off? I'd if I had a computer shop and sold some things to a good friend :P

If he owns it he probably could, but if he just works there then most likely not.
