Core I7 3770k

16gb Kingston 1600hz

Nvidia 660 ti 2gb

Barracuda 2tb 7200 rpm

blu ray burner

Xonar Esscence stx

ASrock z77 motherbord

Is this a good solid group of core components? Will they all play nice with each other? what kind of fps can I expect for maximum far cry 3, lets say?

what do you plan to do with this system?

3570k is just as good unless you need 8 threads. Gaming you will not see a difference.

Garbage GPU choice. 7870 is better and about the same price.

ASrock, do not get it unless you plan on getting the Fatality series. Go for Gigabyte or Asus instead.

Gaming with audio visual work done, mixing an editing and what not.

I wanted to stay under 1500 for the whole group. Total at the store was about 1504, just wanted to check and see if the compnents were worth the money

The GPU is worth it if you need CUDA or Physx. Otherwise, grab an AMD GPU.

CPU can be brought down to a 3570k and you will loose very little performance.

Motherboard is not worth the price at all on ASrock.

According to this- http://www.anandtech.com/bench/Product/548?vs=647 it's not. The 660Ti is faster in about 70% of the benches, plus you get PhysX and CUDA, which is always a bonus.

Get with the program. 20%+ performance over stock on 12.11 drivers. If you don't know that, then please don't comment at all. The 7870 is faster.

no, but they are ahead, and you linked release driver benches.

Then I would assume that with the driver updates from both companies would put them at about same distance in performance.

FYI, Nvida new drivers(310.70) has an upwards of 38% in performance boost.

good for them. Hardly worth the price though, and on top of that getting a card that is neutered by its hardware (on those below the GTX 670).

Unless you absolutely need CUDA, then AMD is still cheaper, and if you run anything with AA/MSAA or above 1080p, the 7800 and 7900 is better due to memory bus width.

What resolution is the OP playing at? The complete elephant in the room. Also what (exact) PSU does he have?

Without the above information, all the above comments are virtually useless.

Well, the higher the better really, though I'm fine with sub 1080. Psu is corsair 750

i guess the fact that i dont know if i need cuda means i dont need it...?

For gaming you don't need CUDA. For things like rendering and graphic design it is probably worthwhile having it.
