Gmail Email Notifications Without Browser?

im looking to see if theres something i can download that will give me INSTANT new email notifications for gmail whether im in a browser or not

anyone know of anything i can download to accomplish this like i said must be instant and must work within windows not browser dependent
 
You should be able to download your gmail using any third party application like thunderbird or pegasus or anything like that.
 
If ya use a client like thunderbird and set it up for your email account then just minimize after opening one time. It will beep or make a noise when received.

Download Google's Gtalk Beta. Aswell as letting you use Gtalk outside a browser, it gives you email alerts which redirect to Gmail. If not, I'd recommend Thunderbird like what John Suggested
 
Your gmail account can be set up as a POP3 or IMAP account in any email client (Thunderbird, Outlook Express, Outlook, Windows Mail [in Windows Vista], Windows Live Mail, etc.). To get your gmail account to work this way, you need to access your gmail preferences and enable POP or IMAP.
