Windows XP trolling me

I installed win xp on my pc quite a long time ago and today for some reason it stopped working, when I turned my pc on it started loading and gave me a blue screen saying that there is some problem with my "new" hardware configuration, but I didn't do anything to my pc, I did not touch any of its components. So, anyways I tried using the use last successful setup option but it didn't help me.. so I used the installation cd to perform a repair install... and still nothing, so I formatted my hard drive, and completely re-installed windows. Now it's working but I still have no clue what caused it, any ideas? ...at least this time I left 150gb of unpartitioned space on my hdd for linux... :D

It could have been due to a new driver or perhaps a virus made to look like a hardware issue.

It must have been a virus, cause I didn't mess with my drivers in any ways...and it would make sense cause the message appeared right after the loading screen got done with loading, but instead of showing me my desktop it showed me this blue screen... I hate whoever invented this virus

Can you start the computer in safe mode? If so, do a system restore back a day or two.

Yeah I already formatted everything, but no, no I could not start the safe mode which is why I formatted it... I didn't have any important files on it, so I thought: why would I waste any time trying to fix it, let's format this sucker :D!
