Keyboard & Mouse for ~$100

OK, done a tone of looking and got a nice big list with a few combos that catch my eye (not literal combos that would save money, if only).

Really want a keyboard with the cherry MX's, heard they're supposed to be good and last a long time, not really sure why i want to replace my current one, although it is a cheap crap, but it works fine. Mouse, want a high DPI, thinking 3600+ is good? really want to keep the back/forward buttons on the side like my current mouse, wireless is nice but not high on the wants as batteries bug me.

arranged by price (including shipping, although forgot tax for BB)

Obviously i'm me so price matters, i don't want to blow 100 if i can get something barely worse for 60-70 so if i can i want to know, but it there's a good enough reason then 10-20 isn't too big a deal. 100 is the preferred cap but i can go higher if necessary, but i'm not gonna hit 150 or anything, i can barely justify the prices for the 70 on the mobo and dont want over 60 on the mouse. Extra keys are nice and all but i don't want to pay a ton for like 20 macros i will never use.

I would like to order/buy both from the same place so just keep that in mind, i don't care about like 2 bucks to do that.

I would suggest quickfire rapid pro and either deathadder, g400 or if your budget will stretch r.a.t 5 or SS Sensei or Kai

May I suggest the SideWinder X4 as a quality cheap keyboard. Have it myself and it's top notch!

i don't think it really matters to me, i bottom out my keys no matter what pretty much, and i can adjust to the force required. t seems like on of those things you gotta experience to choose, but in this case, the Rosewill RK900RE is now on sale for 70 which the BL i believe was yesterday, and it seems like they are the blacks with a lower force requirement, so is it the way to go?

then MikeB was steering me towards this, but it has blues which after that read, i'm warry of, although doubt i'll care if i'm using it, got headphones as far as the noise.

as far as mice i think the g400 is pretty solid, but the CM inferno looks like it might be good and SO MANY BUTTONS *drool*, then the steelseries ones look alright, just not sure.

God i hate having to buy things without being able to try them :(

and if anyone cares, this is what i'm coming from. And should be getting brother's desk so i'll have more room.

love the feel of my current mouse, good size and all, but want higher DPI, then the keyboard isn't functionally bad, it's just old and crappy

The way I understand it Reds are the most force required. I like that in my keyboard. I have the Browns and while playing RTS games I would like to have a bit more resistance to the keys to prevent accidental key presses. Typing and FPS games are great on anything mechanical IMO.

If I were you I would grab the Rosewill with the MX Reds and the G400. Unless you play MMOS you do not need all those buttons. Back, forward and a DPI settings is all you really need on a mouse.

These switches have a linear response, just like the blacks, only with softer springs

Quote from the linked article.

Think i might just do that, or the white version with i forget which switch is on newegg for 65 now, will look into it. And for the mouse, i am still browsing some, dont like the rubber buttons on the side of the 400, should work fine, but want to look a little more. Now i'm starting to like the SS mouse the more i look at them.

Ok, settled on the rosewill rk9000re (mx reds). Now i jst need some mouse suggestions, the g400 is number 1 right now, then i'm looking at some others, probs some steelseries ones.

Ok now that I am back from work I can give my opinion.

I have had the Sidewinder x4 for almost a year (I think). I really liked it for FPS games but the keys had a but too much roll for me in RTS. They just didn't seem as stable after a few months of gaming. Also the anti ghosting is not as good as what they say it is. I would that I missed key combos in SC2 more often than I do now with my K90. It's still a great keyboard but I would go full mech if you want a good gaming board.

I use the MX518, which has almost the same design as the G400. It is a bigger style mouse that fits nicely in your hand whether or not you are browsing the internet or gaming. Back and forward are easy to reach but I do not regularly hit them accidentally. The G500 is great as well. It has customizable weights and more buttons. It also got an upgrade to the skin that is a bit easier to grip if you hands sweat a bit while gaming.

I would stay away from the Deathadder. Decent mouse. Pretty comfortable but the travel on both fingers are way too long. It just bugged me way too much. I had to take it back. For the price and what else you are looking at I would stay away from it.

Steel Series mice are awesome. Seem really basic but they have great hardware. I used the Sensei for a week or so. The problem that I found with them are the back and forward buttons. On the Sensei they were on both sides for left handed players. I hit them too much on accident. If you can find one with both back and forward on the same side for a decent price that would be another good choice.

Hope that helps.

Cant find a steel series for a good enough price, most i saw were 50 plus and i didnt see any forward or back buttons on the 40 buck one.

Looked up reviews and now i'm starting to really like the g510 but doubt i'd use its features and since it's not mech so whatever, i'll just keep the 9000re.

Also watched some reviews for the cm inferno and its a similar size and shape but more buttons and a dpi meter on it which is nice, and the tt esports theron is rated pretty well for a way higher price so for 40 i think it should be really good.

Looks good to me. I am not a huge fan of the design of the mouse but I don't see anything that is wrong with it. It should be a nice setup.

I have the G400. It's certainly a very nice comfortable mouse. It's quite large but it fits in the hand nicely. I'd recommend it. :)
