So i am upgrading from my current motherboard to a i5 3570k and ASRock Extreme 4. I know i will have to reinstall windows, and i have a windows 8 pro upgrade disk. I used it to upgrade to 8 and have since misplaced the 7 disk..So i can't install it and upgrade. Is there a way around this besides finding an old copy of vista/xp or something?

I don't think you need the windows 7 disk.

If you have the windows 7 product key I think it asks you during the install for this to prove you are eligible for an upgrade.

I don't have the product key or the disk. Only my windows 8 stuff. I guess i will have to find an old xp or vista setup and use it to upgrade from. This is a long shot but will the system repair be able to fix it?

I was referencing to the problem of me not having the Windows 7 product key. I read online that someone was in the same scenario and the windows repair feature got it going for him. I have never used it, and do not know how helpful it is. Sounded too good to be true, but figured i'd ask.

The problem you have is that you are going from an AMD build to an INTEL build. You will need to do a fresh install.
