msi x58m Windows 8 drivers

So, I finally installed windows 8 pro 64-bit on my computer but I ran into a tiny problem, actually it's a pretty huge problem. My motherboard, the msi x58m, it came with windows 7 drivers and I read online that some windows 7 drivers work with windows 8, so I tried installing them, unfortunately the installation crashes when it's installing the chip set drivers and causes my monitor to turn on and off... and then I have to refresh windows 8 to fix it. I went to msi's website but they don't have drivers for windows 8 for my motherboard... What am I supposed to do? Should I just use my computer with out the motherboard drivers? ...cause it works perfectly fine ...don't know what will happen when I'll try playing BF 3 though, help?

So my problem has just doubled a second ago... I said that my pc was turning the monitor on and off after I tried to turn it on... I thought it was caused by the chip set drivers crashing during installation, but it's not, my pc does that again. It happens when I turn it off right after turning it on after fresh installation. So it works the firs time I turn it on, and then just stops working (it works but the screen is black and it turns on and off for some reason...) Anyone has any idea how to deal with that problem

So, when you installed Windows 8. Did you check in devise manager to see if you had everything loaded fine, before you put in your motherboard drivers. It did on mine, but I wanted to use certain programs that came on the MB Disk. So I downloaded new drivers from my MB company. But if they loaded fine and it worked, you might have to go that route.

Okay, so basically I can live without the motherboard drivers... but I found out that it wasn't caused by the drivers. I'll be more specific this time:
*I installed windows 8 on my machine and after the installation it worked fine
*I installed all the drivers and re-started my machine
*The computer shows the windows 8 loading screen and after about 5 seconds screen goes black and after 30 seconds computer re-starts and repeats the cycle

*Note that I tried re-installing windows 8 and the same thing happened even when I didn't install any drivers, so I guess it's not caused by them

Can anyone please help me, again?

Look to see if there are any minidump files located here.

c:\windows\minidump

If there is, then zip them up and attach them to your next reply.

I guess I will just roll back to windows xp and forget about windows 8 cause I am not going to waste another second trying to get it to work... I'm saying that because I saw similar threads on other forums and in all of them the people having the problem had like 100 responses but in the end they said that none of them helped and they will just give up... so the odds of me fixing it are like 1 to 1000... :(

I'll try that but there is one more thing I have to mention: When I start the automatic repair it doesn't help but it gives me this message saying that it's caused by a VIDEO_TDR_FAILURE, and that I can research that online... I don't know if this gets me closer to solving the problem but I thought I might let you know. Also I found a guy who had the exact same problem and he also got the VIDEO_TDR_FAILURE but what's interesting is that he was using a gtx 260, and I'm using a GTS 250.... it seems like the geforce 200 series cards are having problems with windows 8... so any more ideas?

You may want to try a different series of card or even an AMD card. Could be an issue with the card or drivers.

I just did a simple thing, removed the drivers and re-started the pc, an IT WORKS! So, the gts250 drivers are somehow conflicting with windows 8... great, what am I supposed to do now since I can't install the drivers cause they mess up windows 8 ????? not play video games?

I also found some nvidia forum and found out that basically all people running windows 8 and the gts250 are having the same problem, what now? It seems like nvidia failed to make this card compatible with windows 8...

I would suggest just getting a different card. Try AMD.

Oh, yeah no problem I'll just grab another card... oh wait I don't have one ...anyways I tried many gts 250 drivers and none of them worked so I tried installing the 8400gs drivers and they work with the 8400gs like a charm. So I guess that the gts 250 drivers because of some weird reason didn't like windows 8, but everything works now on the 8400gs drivers :D And I also figured out how to get the motherboard drivers, all I had to do is install the windows 7 drivers cause even though msi's website doesn't say that they work with windows 8, they do :)
