bottleneck effect?

i recently i upgraded my video card from a radeon 6670 to a radeon 7770.
when i start up bfbc2 or bo2 or other games just at the beggining for like 10-20 seconds it lags terrribly at like 10 fps and then it gets good.
I have a amd athlon ii x2 3.0 ghz and 430 watt psu.
is it the bottleneck that is causing this??
and can anyone tell me how bad it is bottlnecking
with my 6670 the fps was normal at first unlike this one.
 
Did you do a driver sweep to get rid of the old ones before installing the new drivers? Might be a little confict.
 
yes i uninsttalled the old graphics drivers and i even tried 2 drivers versions,, i dont think its supposed to do that where it lag for the first 20 seconds even if it bottlenecks,, i guess im going to get a refund and get the gtx 650 ti i heardd nvidia has less problems

I really don't know how true that is, but, AMD offers more performance vs. the same cards in it's price rang. Like 650ti and the 7850, both around $150, but the 7850 is faster then the 650ti.

Edit: Don't know if this will help or not, but try resetting the GPU in the pci slot.

yes i see, it bassically takes a big sh#t on it lol.. But my power supply is only 430 watts and the required is 500.. will that be a problem?

Can you give me the brand/model of your PSU? If it's an 'OK' brand, then you should be good to go.

If you look at the benchmark(8th one from the bottom)it shows that at full load(system and all) it's max is at 289w(we'll give it 300w to be safe).

Edit: Also consider that nothing is OC'ed.

IMHO, I wouldn't do it until I upgraded that PSU.

Reasons; Thermaltake is not that great in the PSU department(low quality). Even though you'll be able to run it, I wouldn't, do to the fact that it takes 24 amps to run, and your only putting out 29. You'll be stressing your PSU to the max, and might end up frying your PSU, and maybe other components as well.

I wouldn't run it with that PSU anyway. I wouldn't run it with a 650Ti either.

Take that money and invest in a better PSU. Sorry if I'm coming off as rude or something, but I'm just giving you the best advice as I can. GL!

AMD specifies a minimum of a 500 Watt or greater power supply. The power supply should also have a combined +12 Volt continuous current rating of 24 Amps or greater and have at least one 6-pin PCI Express supplementary power connector.

However, total power supply wattage is NOT the crucial factor in power supplies(or selections). Total continuous amperage available on the +12V rail(s) is the most important factor.

You CAN run a 650ti and/or a 7850, but I would NOT recommend it.
 
well i dont;t have money right now to upgrade all my parts.. for now i want the 650 ti and phenom x4.. then whatever i have money for

Then by all means, get the 650, there's no harm there. I was just stating that a 7850 will give you better performance at the same price as a 650. Just please, in your next upgrade, consider a better PSU. It's the heart of any machine, there for should not be over looked or skimmed on. GL Sir!
 
i wont die if i run bf3 at medium setting im not a ultra freak or anything lol , i just want a graphics card that will run about any game at medium setting around 60 fps. and i mostly play cod and bf and nfs..
