Greetings All,

......I just ran into this problem this morning and am not too happy about it.:(:(:( ...THIS IS THROUGH BROAD-BAND INTERNET AND ASSOCIATED CABLES/ROUTER/SWITCH/ETC.

Have a Toshiba Satellite laptop A-75 Series A75-S211. Win XP Pro, Plenty of hd space and processor speed and ram. I noticed that i did not have internet service this morning.

I checked and swapped out:
1) all cables and
2) even switched out my internet switch (8-port),
3) rebooted router and
4) rebooted cable modem---all to no avail.

......I looked in "system>hardware>device manager>network adapters>Realtek RTL8139/810x family Fast Ethernet NIC" and found no abnormalities (said device is working properly).

.....I also looked at the driver for same, uninstalled existing driver and reinstalled the driver originally installed.

....I also did a system restore to last moth where everything was working fine. NO GOOD.

***I think that this happened to me some years ago and it turned out that SOMEHOW, something got "shut-off" in my computer (tcpip???? or something).

Is there anyone who can help with this issue?......THANKS

And how did you find out it had no Internet connection?

Thanks for the reply...you're kidding, right?

...No internet access with multiple browsers....no internet "show icon in notification area when connected" display showing i am connected, no e-mail access via outlook express or via web mail access (no internet access would obviously prevent me from checking web mail e-mail of course!).....using "winipconfig" doesn't give me an ip address, subnet mask, etc.......enough?...grin

Sounds like the laptop isn't making the connection to the router. You're doing it through an Ethernet cable, right?

..I think i already inferred this with swapping of net cables with tHE computer 14'' from my laptop, HOWEVER, i will clarify this in my initial post!

YES

....UPDATE:WORKING AGAIN

..I started fooling around with the "entries" in my Ethernet adapter (realtek) by checking and un-checking the tcpic entry which also took out the first Microsoft entry.....

.....Then, i went over while rebooting and restarted (did this multiple times previously) my router/switch/cable modem and all came back on!...AMAZING...possibly something corrupted?.....Either way, God is cool!

Sorry if my simpleton questions infuriate you, I have no way of knowing how smart you are, apologies.

Sorry if my simpleton questions
yes, they were as you should have been able to gather what was going on with the way i wrote it

infuriate you,
it surprised me that you have been here on this forum for a bit and were not able to understand what i wrote. It did not "infuriate" me but, THIS REPLY you made gets the ball rolling on that aspect since you are/were not here, have not asked me outright about this alleged "infuriation", were unable to understand what i wrote to make an easy deduction of what i was stating and, somehow came up with the idea that because i asked you if you were kidding, you UNREASONABLY assumed i was "infuriated".

I have no way of knowing how smart you are, apologies.
Try asking instead of making assumptions. A reasonable person with reasonable sensibilities would have easily "assumed" by the information i included in my initial post, that i was "smart". Best let this drop.
