PC Games Blacklist

due my recent experience with some pretty shitty games, I thought we should create a list of PC games that people should stay away from.

reasons should include game breaking issues and not so much plot/story or anything that is subjective.

here are my first two:
please note this is for PC only! i'm sure dark souls plays decently on console.

Medal of Honor: Warfighter
reason - EA dropped support (no more patches or updates).

Dark Souls (PtDE)
reason - horrible mouse and keyboard support (non-customizable). also, GfWL is shit.

Take off Dark Souls! It's an amazing game, just grab Durantes fix for 1080p and use an xbox controller and it's fine.

I can see this thread going bad over peoples choice of shit games :p

For example, any LoL, HoN, or DOTA style game, starcraft 2 and any COD.

Turbo i am ashamed.....sc2 really :/

Warfighter does suck though, cant believe theyve stopped support for it. What a waste of 18 quid.

I too think this is going to be too personal, cant really make a list as some people may like games others dont.

Mate I've been a strategy gamer for years but starcraft 2 isn't a true RTS. It's just build orders, now Supreme Commander:Forged Alliance THATS an RTS :p

i'm not going to use a controller, that's like asking a race car driver to use automatic transmission.

i just installed DSfix and dsmfix09 which fixes the resolution and mouse control. however a normal pc player wouldn't know to search for and apply such fixes.

the game is playable now, but i wish they had done a proper port. for example, all the in-game menus show the console keys to press, who know what kb key corresponds to the xbox yellow Y?

Warfighter was fun for like a week. you can pretty much unlock everything within that time. EA is still trying to scam people with their shortcut packs. worst company ever!

Basically, the Japanese company who made it didn't know shit about PCs and just ported it straight to PC cause fans asked for it. It's a third person game, doesn't really matter using a controller.

'however a normal pc player wouldn't know to search for and apply such fixes.'

Ha sure, unless you are completely new to PC gaming you have experience in fixes and patches, it's really not hard to find.

this would be subjective.
people have different ideas of what a strategy game should be like, so different games use different strategy mechanics.

It's like League of Legends, it could be called an RTS in a sense, but the mechanics are so different it's in its own genre. Starcraft 2 kinda is aswell

it's also easy to change something that'll get you banned from GfWL if you don't read the whole thing.

i basically bought the game because i had a soon to be expired coupon from amazon and saw some pretty neat gameplay on youtube.

This entire thread is and yet you started it

no sir.

EA being a horrible company is subjective. Them dropping support for MoH:W is not.

Dark Souls being a good game is subjective. Its lack of keyboard & mouse support out of the box is not.

MoH will essentially become a single player game.

Dark Souls still works perfectly fine with a controller or with a mod.

If you want to play offline and enjoy the game, MoH is still perfectly fine, if you don't mind playing with a controller or prefer it, or if you are willing to spend a couple of minutes getting the mouse and keyboard working, Dark Souls is fine.

To say avoid this game because x, y and z, because it does not affect some people's decision, that is subjective. You may as well have started a thread saying "games to avoid because I don't like them", the whole thing is subjective.

Yes, it sucks that EA have pulled support on a game that isn't even a year old, but it doesn't detract from the quality of the offline play

i don't know what you're trying to say here, please rephrase.
here's what i'm going by:

Subjective information is one person's opinion. In a newspaper, the editorial section is the place for subjectivity. It can be based on fact, but it is one person's interpretation of that fact. In this way, subjective information is also analytical.

Objective information reviews many points of view. It is intended to be unbiased. News reporters are supposed to be objective and report the facts of an event. Encyclopedias and other reference materials provide objective information.

all of your points are perfectly reasonable. however they are still subjective.

the fact is: EA is no longer maintaining or supporting MoH:W so you don't get what is advertised on the box. my opinion is this is a deal breaker and people should know this when deciding whether to buy it or not.

if EA comes back and says: ok MoH:W is a single player game, repackage it and sell it at a steep discount, that would make sense. but they didn't, and they still try to sell multiplayer content for it.

as far as Dark Souls goes:

the fact is it doesn't support mouse and keyboard out of the box.

in my opinion, installing a third party solution is acceptable, but not desirable.

these are things that consumers of PC games should be aware of to make a proper informed decision whether to buy the game or no.

The thread is entitled "PC Games Blacklist", insinuating these are games to be avoided. If you had created a thread instead entitled "MoH losing EA support" and people discuss it, that is stating the facts and spreading information. By saying people should avoid the game because of it, you are airing your opinion.

The same is true with Dark Souls. It is a fact that there is not native mouse + kb support, it is your opinion that due to that, the game should be put on a blacklist of games to be avoided.

The whole thread is based off condition x is wrong with game y, therefore game y should be avoided. People will disagree and say condition x doesn't apply to them, isn't severe enough or they simply don't care, so they will play it anyway and as they enjoy it, would recommend others play it too, rather than blacklist it. That is also their opinion
