Asus 660Ti Questions

Hey guys,

So as my system stands now, using Crysis 3 as reference, my system is completely stock. With Crysis running at full graphics, AA turned to 32x, I am averaging 22FPS (in the heavy sections). How I found this, was I ran FRAPS while playing the beginning of the game. As I ran through the game, at any point where I noticed my FPS drop, I did a benchmark through FRAPS. Seven benchmarks were recorded, took all the averages and the average of those were around 22FPS.

Right now my card is set at:


What could I do to allow my FPS to increase?

Bonus Question!
I have a 51" Samsung Smart TV (3D) hooked up to my computer as a second monitor.
1)Is it possible to game off this TV?
2)Is it possible to game 3D off this TV?
3)At points that I reach 60FPS, would this mean that i could achieve higher FPS? (Given that my monitor is only 60Hz and my TV is 600Hz)

Any answers to any of these questions would be helpful and appreciated :)

P.S - Check out this screen shot, lol. I thought it looked awesomely funny! He looks so serious! (This picture is a remake, I tried to upload the original, but was 5.9MB and imageshack wouldn't let me upload a photo that large. Any idea how to do large photo file size, let me know)
 
lower AA? the bottleneck for that card is the memory bus, so your kinda shooting yourself in the foot running AA that high and use dropbox for photos, its just so much more easy than using some website to upload to...install drop box, drop picture into public folder, copy public link, paste, done.

But yeah he is right, if 22 fps is bearable then thats fine. The best thing to do is just to drop it down a few settings in my opinion.

But its all advice, do whatever the heck you wanna do - HogeTwins LOL *Disclaimer, there is supposed to be extremely obscene words in this sentence but for the good cause of CF I have replaced it with heck. If there is an issue with this please let me know.

Lol, I didn't say this is how I play Crysis 3. I merely using full graphical test as reference to benchmarks and reviews. I am just simply using this to see how I can improve the graphical rating, ie; increase frame rates.

I actually play with AA on x2. averagely get between 45-50 FPS. Sorry for the misunderstanding.

So overclocking will increase FPS? To what significance? ie; overclocking it to 8000mhz instead of 6000mhz for example, what would be your prediction of increase in FPS?

I have never OC'd a graphics card so I have no idea if the reward is worth it. Nor do I have any idea how to, lol. I believe it's much like a cpu, increasing the frequency till unstable, slight increase the voltage, then repeat. I just unsure what Boost Clock is.

And what about my second question about running it through a TV?
 
you cant bump the voltage it only use the voltage imandedtley.
i have a msi 660 ti power edition and the voltage still rus at 1.175 even if i give it 100v moere .
nvidia put a v block on it.
 
Well i had to up the voltage on the 580s. Below 1.1V couldn't play BF3 for more than a minute, driver crash, computer restart. Same for other game engines. All three 580s were the same.

Up the voltage from 1.0 to 1.1 (100mV), and it has never done it again.

Consider flashing to this MSI GTX660 bios, which has a higher voltage, thus proving my point.

You'd probably be voiding your warranty.

But yeah, research the card, the bios and the methods thoroughly. Its not that risky imo.

It will either work, or not.

Research flash back up and recovery techniques. Ensure you have back up of the flash or a default one that is for your card.

Then go for it slowly, you can certainly tell the difference I think.

20FPS is a lot more but in some games it could be 50FPS.

So flashing the memory and overclocking the graphics card, you can find a nice cool clock frequency. If you wear headphones while gaming, just make the graphics card Cooling Fan (100%) go to maximum speed when gaming. Best cooling and you shouldn't hear it.

You could consider watercooling. I found it to be very fun. But either way, I would remove the stock cooler, replace the thermal paste with the nonconductive thermal paste (MX4). You'll drop the temeperature *thus lifting the overclock potential* by around 4oC.

Fan settings, temperature monitors, unlocking of voltages can all be done called MSI Afterburner. Check there. If the card cannot, consider flashing the bios.

Awesome info man!! Thanks!

I don't think I will play around with the voltage just yet. I'll try boosting the clock slowly, with running 3D Mark 11 and seeing if it crashes. See how high i can get. After that, I'll just leave it for a while till closer to end of warranty date. Or maybe just a few months lol.

I have been looking for a water block for the Asus 660Ti, do you know where I can find one? As of right now (stock) the temps don't actually increase at all. They hang out around 35-40C.

I am just wanting to push this card for fun. Don't really plan on maxing out games to their fullest. I actually perfer a game like Crysis 3 on Ultra settings with AA on x2 (with AA off, just looks weird. no smooth edges). My card at stock does this just fine.
 
See how high you can go before it makes no difference on FPS. Don't keep going if it doesnt. Crank fan to 100% while testing and I always put a desk fan in front of my computer to aid VRAM cooling when im testing.
 
OP...yes you can game on your 3d tv with it. just run your hdmi cable to it, and start your game. switch the tv to 3d mode (if that the sort of 3d tv you have), throw our glasses on, and enjoy. it will not effect the 660ti at all, since the tv is doing all the 3d coverting for you. I have a lg 3dtv and its awesome when playing games.

but mike this is for my info, if i look at the picture, of asus gpu tweak i see that the intel hd graphics is showing on the pic, and not youre 660ti
