Changed CPU in laptop but there are problems

I got ahold of an emachine e627 that had a 1.6 ghz tf20 in it. I also happened to have a dualcore 2.0 ghz tl-60 that had the same socket and pin count and everything so I changed them over. Now the laptop runs and everything but it does not acknowledge that there is a better CPU in it. It still says that it is the tf-20 in the device manager and in dxdiag. I tried uninstalling the old processor and it just reinstalls it when it restarts. Idk what to do to get it to use the new processor to its full potential. Help would be appreciated.

OK. I flashed the BIOS to the latest version and it is still showing it has a TF-20 installed. I do not think the motherboard is restricting it because this particular laptop also had a 1.8ghz processor and another processor that was a dual core available. I assume those would all be on the same motherboard as this one. I am stumped as to why this will not recognize it as a different processor. Even if the motherboard was restricting it, it seems to me that it would at least acknowledge it is a different processor.

Take a look at the cpu that you have laying there to be sure it is the single core.
Stranger things have been known to happen.

The only thing that comes to mind is the TL-60 is a Turion and your specs call for an Athlon.
The cpu ID is usually embedded in the cpu itself so I am surprised it is reading as a TF-20.

Is it possible that the mobo might miraculously be different in this one than other e627s? That is about the only thing I can think of at this point.
