Today I got a new modem from my isp to replace a outdated modem. I called to have the mode activated and everything is good on there end I still can not even connect to the internet. No matter how I connect through a router or directly through the modem I can not connect to the intenetr. Is there anything I can try to see if I can get the internet to connect right I am on a cell phone.

Wow. If it's from your ISP, they should be the one setting it up and making sure it works on your end. I would call them and schedule someone to come over and take care of it.

You have to enter your user id and password into the modem before you can connect. Is it a cable or dsl modem?

If its a cable modem you usually have to give them the mac address of the modem before it will work online. If its a dsl modem then you need to enter user name and password. Do all the appropriate lights light up on the modem?

What about the lights? What model of Arris modem do you have? A cable modem usually has 4 or 5 lights that need to be on. Also are you sure they have the mac address in the system of the new modem?

Normally you connect the new modem and let it boot up. Directly connect it to a computer and open a web browser. It should automatically open a setup wizard.

If that doesn't happen then you should call your ISP for assistance.

What about the lights? I've asked this question 3 times now... Have you gone through diagnostics with your internet provider? You may have to do a repair on your internet connection so that it gets a new IP address. Go into the local area connection details via the network and sharing center, click on diagnose. It's either this or you modem is bad or something else. I suggest calling your provider back and have them walk you through everything.

What is the name of the 3 lights not lighting up? Call your provider, either bad modem or an issue with it connecting to their service.

Then what you have is a telephone over internet modem as well. Did you try to repair the connection? Open a command prompt, type this.

ipconfig /release and then hit enter

ipconfig /renew and then hit enter

There is a space between the g and the /. see if this allows you to get online.

If not, contact your provider so they can do some diagnostics.
