Fire fox serch engine not go anywhere?

Hi guys I had Linuxmint14 mate then from repositories packages i installed XFCE4
but controls seem to be very different and not so friendly as mint mate.

someone tell me please how to get other better browser then muzila fire fox
cause i have the FireFox App on the desktop and i open it up and the search engine to google stuff doesn't go anywhere so i have to open Yahoo google search in order to get the search stuff also ho can i get buttons on the desktop like Shutoff and so on;thanks
 
Just install another browser from the software center, chromium is a good choice.
As far as the buttons and such, all that can be customized. If you want to add something to a panel(including your taskbar) just right click it and go to preferences.
The rest of the settings can be tweaked in the xfce control panel, which you can get to under settings.
Icons on the desktop can be changed by right clicking the desktop and going to desktop settings.
