Dual Monitor Setup Questions...

Hey,

So I have a few questions about my dual monitor setup. These might be really easy to answer, but I'm just too stupid to figure it out lol.

Monitor #1: Asus 23" 1920x1080 LCD TN Panel
Monitor #2: Samsung 51" Smart TV 3D Plasma

1) How do I get it so when I am in a video game it will not turn off the second monitor? Every time I play a video game it turns off the second monitor (or at least goes black anyway).

2) How do I make it so my 23" Asus is the main monitor but when I load a game I can play on my 51"?

3) If I play on my 51" would I be able to play in 3D seeing as it supports it?

You need to use the Surround setup tool in the Nvidia control panel, if you want your system to use both screens for gaming.

I know i KNOW (Puts hand up)

Now ive got experience in muli moniter for gaming. Now the trick is to have the one screen playing a movie or film or music but the other to play a game

What you have to do is have the screen your playing the game on (or plan to play on) as the default moniter and the second as the secondary moniter (look in windows display section) now what you have to do is have the moniter your playing games on for example the 51" the same resolution as the desktop resolution (having 1080p for the desktop res and the game running at 1024x768 will make the secondary black)

so In short.l...... the 50" must be the same resolution as the game your playing orthe second moniter will show up black. it doesnt matter about the second screen (in terms of res) just aslong as the primary (the 51") is the same res as the game

as for question two... thats a hard one without ruining question one. but having a screen as default means what ever apps/games/movies are opened it will open on the primary moniter but you can easily move the movie over to he 23" (its easier then moving the game trust me... ive tried)

Question 3 is easy peasy, yes providing you have a 3D GFX card and the glasses (if you need them)

But im not sure about running 3D and having dual screen movie and gaming, any questions id be happy to help out

Uhh. I run one monitor at 1280 x 1024 and the other at 1600 x 900. First is fullscreen and second is wide. Whenever I game it just opens in the bigger monitor as it's set to the default and the second stays up and functions. Never even had to set anything up. Just have it set to have the bigger one is primary in the screen resolution settings.

Are you setup to extend the displays or duplicate them?

I just use the Windows utility for this. My graphics card software doesn't get involved.

I'll have to try all that and get back to you. Maybe read it a couple times to fully understand, lol.

I have them on extended. The 23" is my primary and the 51" is my secondary. Without having to switch so my 51" is primary, how do I make the game load on that?

I'll try and explain exactly what is going on as of right now:
Like I said, my 23" is primary, 51" secondary. Play a game, the 51" goes black. Movies, I'm fine, it's all good. Now what I would like to do, is game off the 51" and use my 23" as a monitoring monitor (for temps and crap, maybe surf the forum lol). How do I do this without switching my 51" as primary?
More clear?

size shouldnt matter really should it? i dunno i thaught it was mainly the resolution that was the important factor.

yeah you shouldnt need software or to use graphics drivers/software windows has it all there for you, just need to play around

but my first comment in a nutshell was to keep the Desktop resolution the same as the game resolution otherwise you get a black screen

I frankly have no idea how to set that up. Also the whole "if your monitors aren't the same resolution one will go black when gaming" is stupid since I do it literally every day and both stay on.

I know a small handful of games allow me to select which monitor I use but otherwise I'm clueless.

So far I have tried:

1) Making both resolutions the same. My 23" as my primary and my 51" as secondary. Wanting to play on my 51", doesn't work. It plays the game on my 23" and blacks my 51".

I'm at a lost.
