Here is a build list I'm considering. Budget is between $1000-1500, primary use is gaming (but will also be general use, i.e. net surfing, word processing, etc).

MOBO: Gigabyte GA-Z77X-UD3H
PROCESSOR: Intel Core i5-3570
POWER SUPPLY: Corsair CX600M (600W)
HARD DRIVE: Hitachi 1TB, 7200rpm
RAM: G.Skill Ripjaw Series 8MB (2x4GB)
VIDEO CARD: EVGA SuperClocked+
OPTICAL DRIVE: LG 24X DVD Burner
CASE: Cooler Master HAF 922
MONITOR: Acer S235HLbii 23" LED
KEYBOARD: Microsoft Sidewinder x4
MOUSE: Logitech G9X
OPERATING SYSTEM: Windows 7 64-bit

The total estimated cost for this build is around $1400.

Can't decide whether I'll need an aftermarket cooling fan... nor whether to purchase a new hard drive in ADDITION to an external backup, or just use the HD I have and still get the external backup.

Any and all thoughts, advice, recommendations or pointing out of glaring errors in value or compatibility is MUCH WELCOMED AND APPRECIATED! Thanks guys!

HDD is crap. A seagate Barracuda 1 TB is good. What is the full model name of the GPU? Get Windows 8, and a 3570K.

Would get a Samsung/Western Digital or Seagate drive over a Hitachi. Everthing else look ok but get the K model CPU. Which EVGA SuperClocked+ is this? Could add a SSD drive for the OS and some programs.

EVGA SuperClocked+ 03G-P4-3663-KR GeForce GTX 660 Ti 3GB 192-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Support Video Card.

Good card. The whole builds good except get the i5 3570k and Seagate Barracuda. And get Windows 8. Latest security, features, etc.

All looks good but get a Seagate or WD drive over Hitachi and make sure you get an i5 3570K (not the 3570 - the 3570K) so that you can overclock if you want to.
