Hello Forum community!
I have just decided start building my computer rig that costs about $1100. The main worry is the the case (Corsair Obsidian 550D) will not be able to fit all the components in! Please give me some tips on assembling it, hardware tips, and plain old opinions!
thanks!

Looks like a gaming build to me. For gaming the CPU is absolutly useless. A i5 3570k would perform just as good. And the board is bad, get a Gigabyte UD3H z77. The case will fit it all plus some. You dont need that much power at all. Get a modulaur PSU with less power, like a Seasonic G series 550w or Corsair HX650M. Get a 1 tb. Its dumb not to. For like 15 dollars more, its a must have. Geting a bigger HDD is future proofing, not more RAM. With the saved money from the i7, get a ssd or a HD 7950. Windows 8 is the usual now, now windows 7. Get windows 8.

He can use Windows 7 if he wants to.

I'd make a few changes to your build:

The i7 isn't really needed for gaming, so I'd get an i5 3570K, it's the gaming 'sweet spot' right now. Great processor.

The board is OK but not the best. I'd get a Gigabyte GA-Z77X-UD3H instead.

You can get 16GB of RAM if you like but for now 8GB is more than enough. It's easy to upgrade to 16GB later if you get 2x4GB. Corsair Vengeance is good RAM, so good choice there.

Good choice of graphics card. Using the money you saved on the processor, see if you can get a 7950 for even better performance.

Hard drive, I'd get 1TB anyway, you never know what you may want to store in the future, and 1TB gives you a lot of room. 500GB can fill up pretty quickly.

DVD drive is fine.

750W is fine, but it's overkill. The CX 600 or TX 650 V2 will be plenty of power for a single 7870 or 7950.

He guys don't you think it will be overkill if he will use this for normal internet surfing? Hope the OP provide some additional details like the usage, upgrade options needed.

I'm going to assume that this build is either for gaming or editing. If he were just building a basic PC, I don't think he'd be willing to put 1000 bucks into it and get an i7 and a 7870.

Change your PSU to Seasonic and protect your investment.

The advice is good about the i5-3570 and the Gigabyte motherboard. You're better off with 'em.

He can, but he said Windows 7 is the usual, but all new OEM pcs come with W8 witch immediatly means its the usual. Anyways Windows 8 has the latest features and best security, plus you can make it look like windows 7 without the metro start menu with a program if you want. Get W8.

There's nothing wrong with Corsair power supplies.

I know you can. I did when I had Windows 8. But the OP wants to use 7, nothing wrong with that.
