crack a router passcode

hey fellas.
I need to crack my router passcode to see what firmware it's running. There's a passcode set but I don't remember it and it's not written down anywhere.

Is there a utility for it?

Reason is that the model is notorious for odd download habits of peaking then falling repeatedly every 10 seconds. New firmware can fix it.

Would I then have to re-enter all of the settings?

Is there another way? I wasn't there when all the settings were put in, and it's running in bridge mode with some other strange stuff that I'd rather not touch.

Did you actually set the password or is it one of the defaults?

In all honesty it's easier to just reset the thing.

i think it's been set, the usual default codes don't work
I'm thinking I might have to reset it and try figure out how to set everything again myself

problem understood but this may/maynot be against the forum rules because i am sure *crack a router passcode* might be not what it seems to be in some cases where people try to crack network limitations set by other people

that's why i tried to explain that I need to update firmware on it
I would hardly be asking a forum like this if I needed to hack into a network, would I.
Anyway, I can't reach anybody else's WiFi from home.

I'd say reset. I know your intentions are honest but I think part of the problem is people could get on here and learn how to circumvent security. Ian and the forum don't want to held accountable for any of that, even if the OP was a legit and honest question like yours.

Legitimate or not,We wont be discussing on how to "Crack" of bypass the password on the router here,If its genuine just reset the router like mentioned and it will restore to factory default login.
