So hey guys. I want to buy a new GPU and can you tell me the BEST one this PC can work on?

Intel Pentium 4 CPU 3.00GHz Socket 775 LGA

2.00 GB RAM Single-Channel DDR2 @ 266MHz

Do you know if you have a PCI Express slot on the motherboard? Is this a retail pc? Make and model? Also, can you read on your power supply the wattage?

Any new card will be bottlenecked by that CPU. That computer is probably 5 years old at least and not worth upgrading at all really. You're better off saving and buying a whole new system.

If you're looking for a new video card chances are you're looking to play some games maybe? A simple PCIE graphics card will give you better ability to play some older games better than you would have back when that PC was new. But like Denther said you are better off buying/building a new PC if you're looking to do anything modern gaming or graphics.

Yes I do... this video card just stopped working... it shows only desktop and I'm not able to install NVidia...
If I buy a new one I will just remove this from motherboard and insert new.
That's the motherboard ASUSTeK Computer INC. P5ND2 SE (Socket 775) DDR2

and yes Denther it's worth upgrading because I know that there is no way I can buy a new one for 4-5 months...

What's your budget?

Is this a pentium 4 WITH hyperthreading? You can see this running this app:http://www.cpuid.com/softwares/cpu-z.html
If it shows 2 threads you're okey and you could upgrade with a graphics card and get a bit more graphical performance. With one without HT (1 thread), it doesn't matter what gpu you give it, it will never run out of crap with the newer games (talking 4years old and newer).

Anyway, I was able to play decent on my athlon 64 x2 5000+ with an hd6870 (only pci-express 1.0 though)
Games like minecraft, don't run very well on it though... That's more cpu power. (with a small oc to 3.2ghz it did run well :p)

games I tested that ran well: LOL, COD 4, lortr conquest, lortr bfme2, and some others....

You'll likely need a new power supply if you plan to upgrade your graphics card, so that will eat up a chunk of budget. I'd reckon the power supply alone would set you back about 40 Euros, so most of your budget.

Card wise, almost anything out there is better than an 8500 GT. It might be worth looking at second hand stuff, sometimes you get quite good deals on older cards.

Yes from second hand it will be ok. Just tell me which is the best version to buy with that CPU...
